It feels more stable on pavement, though early swing-axle cars can get tricky when pushed. Compared to the 2CV, the Beetle feels tighter and more planted, especially at speed. But that swing axle setup can get a little sketchy when pushed—tuck-under oversteer is real if you’re driving it hard into corners.
