This “teddy bear” gives the worst hugs and only looks soft from far away. The teddy bear cholla’s fuzzy arms are covered with thousands of barbed spines that latch on like nature’s Velcro. Brush too close, a whole joint “jumps” on—then drops elsewhere and takes root after rain. If you get tagged: don’t swipe or shake. Lever the segment off with two sticks or a wide comb, use tweezers for strays, then tape to lift the fine fragments. Give cholla patches space, scan the ground, and keep dogs leashed. #TeddyBearCholla #Cholla #MojaveDesert #MojaveNationalPreserve #CaliforniaDesert #SouthwestNature #DesertLife #DesertEcology #DesertPlants #Cactus #Cacti #CactusLover #Plantscience #FieldBiology #NatureEducation #NaturePhotography #HikingTips #TrailSafety #Backcountry #PublicLands #LeaveNoTrace #WildlifeHabitat #Pollinators #NatureEngineering #EverydayNaturalist

This could be you.. when hiking in the Southwest be sure to watch out for jumping cholla. No they don’t “jump” onto you but they do have dense spines with little hooks on the ends and can detach easily from the main plant, that’s how they propagate. Each arm that detaches could take root and become a new established cholla. This all means that there are tons of lil arms surrounding each jumping cholla (Cylindropuntia fulgida AND Cylindropuntia bigelovii - both nicknamed jumping cholla) so it’s very easy to accidentally brush up against one with your shoe, pants, arms, legs, paws etc. Trying to pull these out is painful! When hiking, be careful where you step and aware of your surroundings. You can bring a comb & tweezers with you just in case but two sticks will also work for pulling these bad boys off. #deserthike #cholla #tucson #phoenix #arizonahiking

This is definitely a minefield of pain for those who move fast and react slow. These baddies are covered in thousands of extremely, sharp needles and each needle has a set of reverse barbs on them. Also, don’t get too close, they don’t call them “Jumping Cholla” for nothin’🍺😂 ——————————————————————————— Visit the linktree in my bio to get 10% off a new subscription when you download the OFFROADR app using code: 395RIG ——————————————————————————— ©Indigoverse Productions. Feeling better and better each time I get on this bike. On my GG350, I knew exactly what it was going to do, how it was going to react on and off throttle, and I was more confident on it than any bike I’ve had previously. I’m getting there on the new 350 🙌 #hdsoffroad #wlfurthertogether #tbtracing #offroad #dirtbikes #ktm #ktm350 #fourstroke #enduro #singletrack #dirtbiketest #dangodesign #arizonaoffroad #dirtbikelife #cholla #desertlife #desertoffroad

Poshaq Set A sophisticated take on the traditional chola, using Self fabric with Off White or pastel tones, featuring a more structured silhouette with layers that flow elegantly, combining minimalism with grandeur. Embellishments like intricate threadwork, zardozi, or subtle pearl embroidery can be added for refinement. gurpreetgillx #poshakdesigner #cholla #sikhwedding #madetomeasure #style #pushaq #royalwedding #royalattire
