Spoke in Parliament on the Civil Defence Shelter and Fire Safety (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill.
I support the Bill and raised a few practical points on how the changes will work on the ground.
For homeowners, the requirements on products installed in our household shelters need to be clear. Residents should know what is expected of them, especially when they rely on contractors and suppliers for the technical details.
I also spoke about keeping fire-engine accessways clear. In our estates, we have delivery vehicles, contractors and service vehicles coming and going every day. The objective is not to issue more fines. It is to make sure that when a fire engine is needed, the way is clear.
I also asked about the expanded role of Supplementary Enforcement Officers, and how we will ensure proper training, consistency and accountability as they take on more compliance checks.
At the end of the day, stronger powers should lead to better safety on the ground, while keeping the rules clear and practical for residents and businesses.

اختتمت هيئة أبوظبي للدفاع المدني مشاركتها في الدورة الـ23 من معرض أبوظبي الدولي للصيد والفروسية، حيث قدّمت للزوّار، ضمن منصة شرطة أبوظبي، رسائل توعوية وإرشادات حول السلامة والوقاية من حرائق التخييم والرحلات البرية، إلى جانب توزيع المطويات التوعوية، والتعريف بالاستخدام الآمن لطفايات الحريق، وتقديم تجارب تفاعلية بتقنية الواقع الافتراضي، بما يعزز الوعي الوقائي ويرسّخ ثقافة السلامة والجاهزية لدى أفراد المجتمع.
Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority concluded its participation in the 23rd edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), where, as part of the Abu Dhabi Police platform, it provided visitors with awareness messages and safety guidance on the prevention of fires during camping and outdoor trips. The Authority also distributed awareness materials, raised awareness about the safe use of fire extinguishers, and offered interactive virtual reality experiences, contributing to enhancing preventive awareness and reinforcing a culture of safety and preparedness among members of the community.
