To say I’ve been enjoying the restoration of our 1840’s New England historic home would be an understatement. Freddie and I have thrown ourselves wholeheartedly into the details, with the dining room being our latest project. We’ve taken on the task of priming, painting, and carefully restoring the built-in cabinetry—a space we hope will soon echo the elegance of a bygone era. Meanwhile, architectural renderings are unfolding beautifully, setting the stage for a kitchen and mudroom of our dreams.
Busy as we are, this process has been deeply fulfilling, if we’re not painting, we’re antiquing—scouring estate sales and filling the home with pieces that feel like they just fit. It’s intended character, even if, for now, we feel like we’re navigating through an antique store.
It’s a wonderfully chaotic step in the journey, but one that makes us fall more in love with our home every day. And these sweet girls of ours are a reminder of why we’re doing it all.
