🤗How I knit with two strands... Today I wanted to show you how I hold the strands when knitting colorwork. I wrap the first strand around my little finger and place it over my index finger, and I wrap the second strand around my ring finger and place it over my index finger. Now one strand is above and one strand is below the knuckle. Now I can knit without the two strands getting in each other’s way, and the tension stays even. Give it a try! #wildflowertee yarn @skudderia_fineyarns #colourworkknitting #knittinglove #handknit #strickenistmeinyoga

Want to learn how to make colour work knitting, with no need to manage pesky floats? Look no further! Double knitting might be the perfect solution! Double knitting is a deceptively simple technique in which you knit two pieces of fabric back to back at the same time, alternating between working on each side with every stitch. This creates lovely thick garments which can have gorgeous colourwork designs that are neat (and inversed) on each side, making it perfect for garments like scarves where both sides are on show! I’ve been offline for a bit as I had a nasty pneumonia which has taken a long time to recover from, but I’ve been asked for more detail on how I double knit for ages so figured I would come back with my most requested video! In this one I am working on the Adventures of Family Fox scarf pattern which I was very kindly #gifted by @katharina.kuntz (whose Over The Garden Wall scarf pattern also features). I’m making it for my husband for Christmas and currently have about 400 rows left to do- do you think I’ll make it in time?? Anyone else hitting the gift-knitting panic season?? 😅 Also pls excuse the slightly cut off end, I had to cut it to under 3 mins for reels 😅 #knitting #knit #wip #howtomake #craft #knit

Have you tried mosaic knitting? This is my #refractasweater and it was my first ever mosaic pattern. I love how the colour changing yarn worked in this. The motif is really eye catching and it looks complex but the technique itself is very straightforward because you only ever work with one colour per row. It is a top-down round yoke but it is actually knit flat and seamed to align the garter ridges perfectly. The Refracta Sweater is designed for fingering or sport weight yarns and it is a great spring and summer piece and can be a real pop of colour. But you could also make it in cotton for a different feel or go monochrome or neutral for something more understated. It works either way. If you would like to cast this on, you can join our Spring KAL and take advantage of the special KAL discount. Comment ZKAL26 below and I will DM you all the information. Pattern is available on Ravelry and Etsy, links in bio. Music from Uppbeat, kaleidoscope/a-thing-of-beauty. License code: 6Q28OVJ8WH3H96TR
🧶 Jump into colourwork episode 4: neat transitions 🧶 * With colourwork, there’s so much to think about when you’re starting out, and it can be really frustrating when your work looks a bit messy and the tension is off. When your knitting colour work flat, a big issue can be the transitions or intersections between blocks of colour. These are my two tips for making sure they stay neat and consistent looking ✨ Number two is a game changer: going into a bit more detail, you always want your working yarn to be coming from the right hand side of the stitch. In order to do this when a colour work motive is getting wider, you need to reposition the yarn to get it into the correct position. Just like when you’re turning your work to do short rows, you wrap your yarn, with colour work it helps to carry the yarn on the previous row so that it’s ready for you. Are any of these tips new to you? What videos would you like to see on colour work next? *A quick note - this was meant to be episode 5 and neat edges would have been 4 but I’ve had such a heavy cold that I haven’t been able to do the audio for it! I’d also like to apologise for the state of my nails and hands in this video! I had just taught a wreath making workshop to 40 people so they’d been working hard!!
46cm of knitting on our road trip home! I’m not sure if that’s good or bad? 😂 Anyway, well done @alexlongknits for getting closest with 48cm! Pop me a dm lovely 🥰 I’ve sat at worked the second sleeve to the same length this after and had a try on, not far to go! Dare I say….I’ve made peace with knitting sleeves 🤔 This jumper has been a joy to work. It’s the Fiona Cat Jumper by @vickychandesigns and I’m so pleased with it! I used the recommended yarn in the end, @lllimani Feli and unfortunately I’ve unlocked a new obsession 😍 I’ve never worked with anything as soft and I know it won’t be my last time! I’m already looking for my next project, if you have any colourwork recommendations let me know! 🥰 #knittedjumper #sweaterknitting #cosyknits #colourworkknitting #catjumper

The magic of blocking your knits 🌈 My second colour work knit is done 🫶🏻 This has been such a fun and joyful garment to knit. It’s purely knitted in stash yarn and it’s a great project for someone like me who’s wanting to challenge themselves by trying out colour work knitting. ✍🏻: #lightheartedslipover by @claraeggers 🧶: #peergynt [1002] by @sandnesgarn + #heavymerino [Terracotta Rose] by @knittingforolive + Håndværksgarn [Cyklamen] by @hjelholtsuldspinderi ————————————————— #knitting #knitknitknit #knittingproject #knittinginspiration #knittinginstagram #scrapyarn #scrapyarnproject #stashbusting #sandnesgarn #knittingforolive #hjeltholtsuldspinderi #knitwear #handmade #knitvest #knittedvest #colorworkknitting #colorwork #strikke #strikstrikstrik #knitstagram #knitspiration #knittersofinstagram #knitaddict #instaknit #instaknitting #contemporaryknitwear #contemporaryknitting
