“I will be the best” focuses on the destination — a finish line that may never come. It’s rooted in competition and pressure. “I will be better than yesterday” focuses on the journey — on progress, growth, and consistency. It’s not about outdoing others; it’s about outgrowing yourself. True success isn’t about being the best, it’s about becoming better every single day. Follow for more 👉 @mindset.therapy

Competitiveness isn’t something we force on kids it’s something we explain, nurture, and guide. From the moment children enter the world, they experience small forms of competition siblings, emotions, challenges, interactions. It’s a natural order of life. But in football, we often forget this and either push competitiveness too hard… or avoid talking about it altogether. At Kano, we believe the key is to define competitiveness properly and help kids build a healthy relationship with it. It’s not about being ruthless. It’s not about winning at all costs. It’s about giving every child confidence. For us, competitiveness means helping kids understand what competition actually is the definition of it, the purpose of it, and how to form a healthy relationship with it. Most importantly, it means guiding players to identify their own strengths and grow them. When a child knows what they’re good at and feels confident in it they step into a 1v1 duel or a game with clarity, courage and resilience. They’re not scared of competition. They know how to use their strengths, express themselves, and stay composed under pressure. Jurgen Klopp once spoke about the shift from “fun” to “competition.” He said it’s not a switch you flip it’s a process. And the way we approach it is everything. This is why kids keep returning to training they’re not being pressured into competition; they’re learning how to compete with joy, confidence, and understanding. As parents and coaches, we must guide them in this journey. Because competition is everywhere but a healthy relationship with it is taught. #football #soccer #development #footballcoach #footballskills
