Your code can be mathematically correct… and still give you the wrong answer. 🤯
0.1 + 0.2 != 0.3
This isn’t a Python bug. It’s a fundamental limitation of how computers represent floating-point numbers.
The scary part? Tiny floating-point errors can become very real problems when they’re repeated at scale.
Remember:
- Don’t use == to compare floats
- Use math.isclose() when appropriate
- For money, use Decimal or work with cents
One tiny detail every programmer should understand before it bites them.
Save this for later.

A Chinese startup filled a data center with around 1,000 Mac mini computers instead of relying on the cloud.
Rather than renting AI computing power, the company built its own infrastructure using Apple's Mac mini M4. The entry-level model starts at $599 and typically consumes just 10 to 30 watts under load, making it far more energy-efficient than many traditional AI servers.
While high-end GPU systems remain essential for training the largest AI models, clusters of Mac minis can be surprisingly effective for AI inference. Tools like Ollama allow these machines to serve language models over a local network, eliminating ongoing API and cloud computing fees.
The approach reflects a broader trend as more AI companies invest in owning hardware instead of renting compute indefinitely. Once the machines are paid for, the cost of running AI becomes far more predictable.
Sometimes the biggest advantage isn't having the most powerful hardware. It's finding the most efficient way to use it.

Long before Terry Davis became one of the internet’s most recognizable cult figures in programming, people could call him and end up having conversations about computers, software, TempleOS, and whatever else came up. One of those exchanges produced a perfectly simple question: what do you use Internet Explorer for? Davis’ answer was even simpler: “To download Firefox.”
Behind the internet clips was a programmer who spent years building TempleOS, a 64-bit operating system largely from scratch. Davis created its kernel, compiler, graphics, applications, games, and his own programming language, HolyC, making TempleOS one of the more unusual individual software engineering projects in computing history.

What if I shrink into my computer?
If I jump into my computer and I see it’s getting hot – that whirring noise - what is happening?
All computers need to get the heat off the chip as quickly as possible and find somewhere to dump it
This is a HEAT problem that’s holding back virtually all our cutting edge computers, because most of what’s around me right now is made of… silicon.
But now there’s a new material we think might be able to help.
To see what, watch our longer video and follow along!

Ever wonder how bank tellers counted change before computers?
This incredible Brandt Automatic Cashier did it with the push of a button. Patented in 1916 and built to speed up making change, it's a fascinating piece of banking history that's just as fun to watch today as it was over a century ago.
From the satisfying click of the keys to the ingenious mechanical design, this is the kind of antique that stops people in their tracks.
Would you add this to your collection or display it in an office?

USB connectors may share the same basic purpose, but their shapes and typical uses have changed dramatically over the years.
USB Type-A is the familiar rectangular connector widely found on computers and hubs, while USB Type-B is the squarer connector traditionally associated with devices such as printers and external equipment. Mini-B and Micro-B were developed as smaller alternatives and became common on portable electronics, including older cameras and mobile devices.
Today, USB-C has largely taken center stage. Its compact 24-pin reversible design can carry data and power, and compatible implementations can also support technologies such as DisplayPort and Thunderbolt. One important detail: USB-C describes the connector shape, not its speed, so two USB-C ports or cables can have very different capabilities. From bulky printer cables to a single reversible connector USB has come a long way!
