ICYMI Check Your Cinnamon. @consumerreports and the @fda have been testing dozens of brands of ground cinnamon. At least 15 have shown significantly high levels of lead — more lead than you should have in a full day in just a tiny amount. My 6-year-old has cinnamon every morning. When I checked ours — an organic brand — it had .28ppm lead. So we switched to a different one that is in the “best to use” category that has .02ppm. So why is lead in cinnamon? Cinnamon comes from the inner bark of some trees. Anything in nature that comes into contact with soil or groundwater has the potential to absorb trace amounts of lead. The soil can also be contaminated by industrial byproducts. And most cinnamon comes from outside the U.S., where countries may have fewer regulations. The FDA regularly reviews tests from states but ultimately it is up to manufacturers to ensure products are safe. Best you can do is check which brand you are using and swap it out if it shown to have higher levels. #health #wellness #parenting #healthykids

Turns out our parents were right shopping at 12 different grocery stores. @consumerreports just looked into this and found that the least expensive groceries were at @costco @bjswholesale @lidlus @aldiusa @wincofoods @heb & @walmart (was the baseline) While the most expensive were at a ton of other chains with Whole Foods at the top of that list. Prices were almost 40% higher on average. Personally, I get my puffy pancakes there and they are pretty cheap 🙂 #didyouknow #groceries #costofliving #money
