Do you only feel beautiful when you’re tanned? ✨ That used to be me. Growing up in Australia, the beauty standard is bronzed goddess, so I spent every Summer baking myself in the sun and in winter, getting a spray tan every week. And if I didn’t have time to tan, I’d even go as far as applying instant tan to only the parts of my body you could see in my outfit. So what changed? The answer is COLOUR ANALYSIS 🌈 Once I realised that a big part of my tanning obsession was not knowing what suited me when I was pale, it gave me the confidence to experiment with my hair, makeup and clothing colours to actually match my natural skin tone. I went back to my natural hair colour. I stopped trying to warm myself up with bronzer. I altered my wardrobe to contain only items that flatter me when my skin is pale. If you’ve ever said the words “it’ll look better when I put on a tan” or “I’ll like my hair better when I have some makeup up on”, just know it doesn’t have to be like that! You don’t have to change anything about yourself to feel beautiful! These days, it’s my job to help others learn this important tool for self acceptance.
