They feature black plumage with brilliant copper hackles, feathered shanks, and a docile yet active, foraging temperament. They are ideal for backyard flocks, producing about 200+ large eggs annually and weighing 6.5–8 lbs. This is an egg from one of our new layers.😍 The Black Copper Marans take a little bit to get their “ink cartridge” working properly and their early eggs can look so cool. In our experience, this hen’s eggs will eventually be the color of the dark spots on this egg. But for now, we get a speckled beauty! I will take it!😃 We are still taking orders for our dark laying Black Copper Marans chicks.😉 #blackcoppermarans #maranseggs #speckledeggs #backyardfarm #backyardhomestead
