Deputy Director of the Barbados Meteorological Services, Brian Murray says an adequate supply of water, home modifications, including the use of air condition units, are a necessity in mitigating the heatwave.
He notes with the upcoming hurricane season, which is forecast to be an active one, each family should take the necessary precautions, tailoring preparations to suit, and not wait until a warning is given.

Going forward, involuntary admission will be removed from the new Mental Health Act.
That’s according to Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Joy Sue, who explained that under the current law, a relative can sign a person into the Psychiatric Hospital against their will, with that status lasting up to a year and reviewed at six months.
However, Dr. Sue noted that in many cases, relatives are unwilling to sign the patient back out.
She was speaking on the topic as a guest on Mornin’ Barbados.

Posted @withregram • @cbcnewsbarbados Youth from one St. Michael community are giving back to the hurricane-ravaged islands of Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Organiser of the popular garden party A Journey to Yoruba, Jamanni Brathwaite says seeing the destruction to the islands, his team decided since Barbados was less impacted the least they could do was give to those countries.
Donations include water, non-perishables, clothes and baby supplies.
Mr. Brathwaite adds that proceeds from the garden party will be used to uplift people in impoverished communities across Barbados.
The group is also set to host a Breakfast Feeding Programme on August 25.
