Today, we meet Team FCSS member Michelle Wong, our Industry Engagement Coordinator for the CTE/ROP program. In her role, Michelle connects Career Technical Education programs with industry partners to offer project-based learning that helps students plan their next steps, whether it’s college, a career, or service. CTE classes give students hands-on experiences, from job shadowing and mentoring to real-world projects, so they can explore potential careers before graduation, gaining the skills and confidence to enter their future prepared. Follow Team FCSS in 00:10 or Less, which highlights the faces and roles that support students every day across Fresno County.

We were honored to host a recent visit from the Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction from the California Department of Education! During the visit, they had the opportunity to tour several of the outstanding Career Technical Education (CTE) programs across the school districts we proudly partner with. From hands-on learning environments to innovative career pathways, it was a great chance to showcase the impact these programs have on preparing students for real-world success. A big thank you to our district partners, educators, and students who made this visit so meaningful. Your dedication and passion continue to drive the success of CTE programs and open doors for future generations.

Awesome day touring about half a dozen Career Technical Education programs at Shasta Union, Foothill, and Enterprise! I am so impressed with the pathways we are building to help students jump straight into solid careers right out of high school or to be many steps ahead for careers requiring for your degree or advanced degrees. Last February I sponsored a proclamation calling February career technical education month and I believe this is a key strength and asset we have in Shasta County and one we can leverage to develop our economy. Big thanks to Brett Barnes and his whole crew for the amazing work they’ve done and for taking me around today!! #shasta #shastacounty #redding #careerteched
