Wait… you guys don’t switch hands?? 🇺🇸🍴🇪🇸 Before moving to Spain I had NO idea that basically the whole world (except the U.S.) keeps the fork in the left hand the entire time. As an American I grew up cutting my food, putting the knife down, switching the fork to my right hand, and then eating. Totally normal. Then I get to Spain and everyone’s just cutting and eating with the same hands like it’s nothing. No switching. No pause. Just smooth. The first time my Spanish friends saw me switch hands mid-meal they looked at me like I was doing something illegal 😂 Be honest… do you switch or not? #AmericanInSpain #SpainVsUSA #CulturalDifferences #LifeInSpain #MovingToSpain ExpatLife USAvsSpain LivingAbroad SpainCulture AmericanAbroad
I’ve lived in Prague for 10 years now 🇨🇿
And some things I did for the first 20 years of my life in the US 🇺🇸 I’ve completely stopped doing. . Why did I ever think sniffing instead of using a tissue was acceptable? .
And why does basically an entire country think this is ok? 😅 In the US, if you need to blow your nose, you do it in the bathroom.
Preferably far away. Definitely not at the dinner table. And absolutely not in a quiet space. .
Yes, we do have quiet environments in the US 🤪 . It took me weeks when I first moved to the Czech Republic, maybe months, to realize this was a me problem.
People kept offering me tissues on public transport. At work. Everywhere. .
And eventually it clicked… oh. This is rude here 🤧 . Now I always carry tissues with me.
Like, always. There is a Costco-sized bag of bags permanently living in our flat. . It’s funny how these tiny cultural differences sneak up on you.
You don’t even realize you’re doing something wrong until a stranger hands you a tissue. . So tell me 👀⬇️
Is blowing your nose in public acceptable where you’re from? . ✨ If you enjoy small cultural differences and big opinions, follow along @vanessa.eats.prague 🇨🇿☕️ . . . #prague #czechrepublic #culturaldifferences #AmericanInEurope #americavseurope
Why People in China Sit Like This 🤯 People in China sit like this almost anywhere, and no one sees it as strange. But if someone sits like this in the United States, they might get judged differently. In China, this posture is extremely common. People do it in malls, metro stations, and public spaces without hesitation. The reason is simple. Sitting like this reduces pressure on the lower back and doesn’t put full weight on the legs. It’s also believed to support better digestion. Because of this, many people find it more comfortable, which is why it has become a normal part of daily life. So what do you think — in the United States, would people see it as unusual or practical? #CulturalDifferences #ChinaLife #MindBlowingFacts #DidYouKnow #DailyKnowledge ViralReels InterestingFacts HumanBehavior LifestyleFacts LearnSomethingNew AmazingFacts FactReels WowFactor
