Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio is less than a 2 hour drive from Pittsburgh and offers beautiful hiking trails.
📌Save this post for your visit to CVNP. We fit all 5 hikes in one weekend.
🥾The Hikes:
1.Brandywine Falls Gorge Loop: 1.4 mi, moderate. There is an ADA Accessible viewing area of the falls (not pictured). The loop we did is not accessible.
2.Ledges Trail: 2.4 mi, moderate, loop
3.Furnace Run Trail: 1.8 mi, moderate, loop. The Everett Covered Bridge is ADA accessible. The trail is not.
4.Blue Hen Falls (via Buckeye Trail): 2.5 mi, moderate, out-and-back
5. Beaver Marsh—1.8 mi out-and-back on the Towpath Trail. We actually biked this as part of a 7-mile ride, but you can walk it. The Towpath is ADA accessible.
🐶All trails are dog-friendly, but please keep dogs on leash.
***Note: These are popular trails and the parking lots will fill up quickly, so go early!

🐔Blue Hen Falls is one of the most popular trails in the National Park, but almost everybody skips the extra hike to Buttermilk Falls!
🧈Buttermilk Falls is a cascading waterfall further down the creek from Blue Hen, that we believe is more beautiful!
🥾In total the hike is about a 3.5 mile out-and-back that is a testament to the beauty of northeast Ohio.

One of our favorite hikes in Ohio is to Brandywine Falls at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. 🥾
Here the 65-foot tall Brandywine Falls tumbles into the Brandywine Gorge offering visitors a beautiful scene, especially in the fall. 🍁
🥾Brandywine Falls can be seen via as a short out-and-back walk to the boardwalk, or on a 1.3-mile hike along the Brandywine George Trail.
In the early 1800s the power of Brandywine Creek was harnessed to drive grist, saw, and woolen mills to support a thriving community. Some stone blocks of the old grist mill still stand today.
🚗 There is a free parking lot, but it can get crowded during peak times.

Finally made it to Brandywine Falls at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It’s just a short ~quarter-mile walk into the gorge for an up-close view of this beauty. The boardwalk and steps make it an easy adventure and perfect if you’re short on time. 💦🌿

Cuyahoga Valley NP is proof that waterfalls, forests, rock formations, and quiet trails can hit just right… as long as you have the right mindset✨
We are native Clevelanders so we have put some serious trail hours exploring CVNP. We love that it’s rarely crowded.. and there really are some beautiful, peaceful trails!
Just make sure you adjust your expectations - it’s beautiful… but very different from most National Parks.
Top tips from locals!
🌳 Ledges is our favorite trail! Don’t miss it!
🌳 Brandywine Falls is beautiful and a short hike
🌳 Ride your bike on the towpath (you can rent them, too!) and hop on the train when you’re tired to get back to your car
🌳 Peninsula is a great place to grab a bite to eat (if you have your pup try @missingmountainbrewing in Cuyahoga Falls)
🌳 check out the Geocaching in the area
🌳 entry is free and parking isn’t usually an issue
