How do sports broadcasts show you all of the data in real time? Here’s a look at the signal flow! First piece of equipment is a Scoreboard controller. These come in all types of flavors from companies like; Daktronics, OES, Nevco, Spectrum, FairPlay, and many others. Almost all of these controllers will have some sort of data output to integrate with either a physical Scoreboard in a stadium or gymnasium, or be able to output extra data for devices like a scorebot. What the heck is a scorebot?? A score bot is a type of device that will read the incoming data from a controller and be able to parse it to something readable for a computer program, like a graphic software for broadcast! This puts everything into an easy file format or cloud server connection in order to get real time scoring data back to the control room. All that’s left to do is create your graphics and link your data to have an amazing looking, automated Scorebug for your broadcast!
