Now that’s a rock pool 🤩🌞 Gantheaume Point 📍 Unlike most rock pools, this one fills up from the bottom which means it’s only full on a very high tide, this picture was taken on a 10.2m tide. When we arrived it was PACKED but to our delight 10 mins later evervone left for lunch so we had this gem to ourselves. Sam the actual king of the castle 🐚👑 A bloke named Sam washed up on an island just off Dampier in 1965 on a 44 gallon drum after a bad storm and was stranded for several days before deciding to make the island his own and build himself a castle. He didn’t give up despite the vandals, the heat, a fire and cyclones. Unfortunately He passed away in 2005 and was buried on the island along with his mate Tiger the cat. Today Sam’s island is accessible to the public via a tinny and his home and belonging are still in tacked and untouched.
