Furong: The Ancient Village Straight Out of a Chinese Fairytale ✨ With over 2,000 years of history, it is one of China's most fascinating ancient villages: featuring wooden houses on stilts, lanterns, narrow stone alleys, and a spectacular waterfall flowing right through the heart of the town. 🚅 Getting there: It takes about 25 minutes by high-speed train from Zhangjiajie West Station, followed by a 10-minute taxi ride to the center. It’s perfect for a day trip or as a stopover on your Hunan itinerary. 🎟️ Admission to the historic center costs approximately €13 and is valid for 3 days. 🗓️ What to do in Furong: • Admire the waterfall from the Waterfall Viewing Platform • Walk along the walkways and through the caves located directly beneath the falls • Dine with a view of the traditional Tujia houses • Watch performances by local ethnic minority groups • Explore the markets and artisan workshops 📸 It is magical both by day and by night—especially when the lights come on and the atmosphere becomes truly fairytale-like! ✨ 📎 Save this post for your trip to China! 🫰🏼 Video by @re.belle.fleur #hellofrom #芙蓉古镇 #furongvillage #chinadestinations
🏮 Furong Town: What You Need to Know Before You Go Walking through a town hanging over a waterfall is a bucket-list dream, but if you’re planning a trip to Furong Town, here is the "real talk" on what to expect: 🌊 Chasing the Waterfall: Timing is everything! The flow is highly seasonal, so for that iconic, thunderous roar, visit during the flood season from May to August. 🎫 Mandatory Entry: Unlike some ancient towns where you can wander the outskirts for free, you cannot see Furong for free. An official entrance ticket (around 108 CNY) is absolutely necessary to access the scenic areas and viewpoints. 🚕 No Budget Shuttles: Be aware that unlike other ancient cities in China, there are no cheap shuttle buses from the high-speed train station. You’ll need to grab a taxi, which should not cost more than 15–20 CNY. 🎭 The Vibe: The cultural shows are "semi-professional"—a bit kitschy, but they add to the atmosphere once the red lanterns light up the cliffs. 🤫 Pro-Tip: If you are looking for the perfect day trip from Zhangjiajie, I actually have another ancient town I’d recommend over this one for a smoother experience. Stay tuned—I’ll be posting a Reel soon with all the details on that alternative spot! 🎬 #furongtown #visitchina #ancienttown #travelreality #waterfall

This is Furong—a town that literally hangs over a waterfall. If you think this is AI, you haven't been to Hunan. It's the kind of place that makes "mythical" feel like an understatement. By day, it's a traditional masterpiece; by night, it turns into a high-production spectacle with fire, lights, and performers in the sky. If your travel bucket list is looking a bit "copy-paste," this is the upgrade. Minimum 2 to go. (Invite the bestie, don't fly solo on this one). DM "FURONG" for a custom private tour itinerary. #FurongAncientTown #Hunan #ChinaTravel #HiddenGems #TravelGoals2026 #WaterfallCity #AestheticTravel #Wanderlust #ExploreChina
We just visited Furong Ancient Town, and it absolutely lived up to the "hanging on a waterfall" hype. It’s a 2,000-year-old Tujia minority village in Hunan that feels like stepping into a movie set, especially once the sun goes down. Here is the essential breakdown of the experience: The Highlight: The Waterfall The town is literally built on a cliff over a massive double-tiered waterfall that thunders into the You River. * The Walk: You can actually walk on a path that goes behind the curtain of water. * Night View: This is non-negotiable. At night, the entire cliffside and the traditional stilted houses (Diaojiaolou) are illuminated with golden lights, making the waterfall look magical. Exploring the Town * Wuli Slate Street: A 2.5km winding cobblestone path lined with shops, local silver crafts, and snack stalls. * Tusi Palace: A traditional complex that showcases the history of the local hereditary chieftains. * Xizhou Bronze Pillar: A historical landmark standing since 940 AD, symbolizing peace between ancient dynasties. Getting There from Zhangjiajie It is incredibly easy to visit as a day trip or an overnight stay: * High-Speed Train: This is the best way. It takes only 23–30 minutes from Zhangjiajie West Station to Furongzhen Station. * The Last Mile: Once you reach the Furongzhen train station, it’s a quick 10–15 minute taxi or local bus ride to the scenic area entrance. * Other Options: If you prefer a direct drive, a private car takes about 1.5 hours from the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park area. #pinoymusicianabroad #travellingchina🇨🇳 #ancientchinavibes
