They didn’t think their back yard could look like this… A Palm Springs retreat 🌵

Desertscape 🌵
Only some of the crafts I make are used by me. A few are gifted to friends—like this desertscape we’re creating in this video. Others are dismantled and reused for future ideas. At the moment, I don’t sell any of my crafts. This is simply my happy way of creating, inspired by ideas I come across on social media and the internet.
This is an open terrarium, which is much easier to maintain than closed ones. I’ve chosen cacti for this setup, as they require minimal care and thrive with less attention.
Hope you like the video 😊

If your keeping an arid species you make the enclosure bioactive
I get alot of questions asking about how I keep my arid/desert vivariums bioactive. It’s no different to any other vivarium, it has dry and humid microclimates where the clean up crew and live.
Still not sure? Ask me any questions you have!

🌮s fuel our 🧠 &💪🏼! 😂 MORE SECRETS👇🏼
I shared this yard transformation in my stories, and naturally, you had questions. Let’s break it down.
Q: Do you use weed cloth?
A: Nope! I have a whole blog post of why I hate that stuff. Check my blog highlight for the full rant.
Q: What rock is that?
A: California Gold 3/8” rock. Solid choice for a Desertscape.🌵
Q: What are those big cactus things?
A: They’re euphorbia ingens. Great structure and low maintenance plant.👍🏼
Q: You landscape out in Menifee?
A: Yup! I just expanded my install service area. I now cover San Diego County, South Orange County and parts of the Temecula/ Murrieta/Menifee areas. Basically, if you’re within an hour of Oceanside, we’ve got you.
👉🏼If you’re into learning what works (and what to skip) in real SoCal yards, you’re in the right place!

El Niño Chitalpa is a funny name for a cool plant! This unique hybrid boasts gorgeous trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of pink and white, blooming all summer long. It’s a hardy, drought-tolerant tree that thrives in sunny spots, making it perfect for adding a splash of color to your landscape. Plus, it’s easy to care for and attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies. If you’re looking for a standout plant with a quirky name, El Niño Chitalpa is the way to go! 🌳🌸🌞 #smithsgardentown #elnino #chitalpatree #elninochitalpa #gardening #landscapingdesign #zeroscapeslandscaping #zeroscaping #desertscape #droughtolerant
When I first clicked the shutter, this photo felt flat… almost lifeless. But editing isn’t about fixing mistakes — it’s about pulling out the hidden drama. With just a few tweaks, the desert light turned moody, and suddenly this cactus wasn’t just a plant — it became a character. @lightroom
