Sorry, but swimming at the Devil’s Pool above Victoria Falls is absolutely nuts. As calculated risks go, I reckon this doesn’t even make the long list but the stats tell a different story. No fatalities ever recorded. Still, if that’s how you like your “tours”…. a trust exercise with gravity, then go ahead, live on the edge, take the photo ✌️

Devil's Pool is located on the edge of one of the seven natural wonders of the world, Victoria Falls. It's the largest waterfall in the world located between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

🤔 How deadly is Devil's Pool? Our guide told us that in 15 years of him leading people, no one has ever died. (There have been fatalities from people attempting it on their own.)
🤫 Devil's Pool is a hidden wall under water created at the edge of the falls. Local fishermen discovered it when they noticed fish swimming at the edge without being swept over the falls.
💦 What most people don't know is that there is a short season where swimming in Devil's Pool is even possible. From mid August - December during the dry season. (Although the falls themselves don't look as impressive at the height of the dry season) We found out we were the first people of the season and the current was very strong! 🦛 (The guides even showed us a hippo at the bottom of the falls that had been swept over a few weeks before due to the strong current!)
There is also an alternative pool called Angel's Pool that the tour operators use when the water is too high to reach Devil's Pool.
Here’s how you do it:
1️⃣ Go during dry season (mid August-December)
2️⃣ There is only one licensed tour company who does this: Tongabezi
3️⃣ Trust your guides and enjoy the view!
