The dj community lost a real one today. @djmiked made slow songs playable, had legendary radio edits, and was one of the nicest dudes. I only met him once but got to talk shop and the impact his edits have on the sets. I only have smart crates for 5 remixers and his was the 2nd one I ever made. The song used here was just one of his meta had on file. Praying for his loved ones and grateful for the short moment we were able to connect and appreciate his work. First song of the night had to be his 🙌 rest easy man
I’ve been sitting with this since Katie called and I still don’t have the right words. But Mike deserves the attempt. DJ Mike D passed away in his sleep. I’m still in shock. Before I ever knew Mike personally, I knew of him. Everyone did. His remixes were everywhere. He was a DJ’s DJ. The kind of talent that made other DJs stop and pay attention. Somehow, through mutual friends, we got connected. And just like that, this guy I idolized became one of my best friends. I’m grateful as hell that it did. When Mike moved to Cleveland, the friendship got real. Music. Tech. Nerdy computer shit. Hardcore Unifi fanboying. Life. He just showed up. Not performatively. Not when it was convenient. He just showed up. Including during one of the hardest chapters of my life. He gave me advice I still carry every day. Classic Mike, the nerdiest thing you could say to someone and it landed perfectly. “Sometimes even Superman needs to be Clark Kent.” I’ll think about that for the rest of my life. Mike DJ’d my Barristers Ball, twice. He didn’t just spin tracks. He commanded a room. He lived inside the music. When he met Amber for the first time, she goes, “Oh, you’re that Mike D.” Mike hit her with some wisecrack. Amber said, “No, Drew just never stops talking about you. I never put a face to the name.” We all cracked up. From that moment, he was part of our world. He was the person I planned to have DJ our wedding after party. That was the plan. Mike, you were an incredible producer. An incredible DJ. An incredible friend. I loved your shit. I loved watching you play. I loved being your friend. Rest easy, my brother. Always loved his edits… RIP DJ Mike D. @djmiked 🙏🏻🕊️🪽
She said she was leaving… and still asked for a song. At that point, I’m not playing for one person — I’m playing for the room. One wrong song can throw everything off. So nah… I let her walk. Sometimes reading the crowd means knowing who not to play for. What would you do?
Some people come into your life and change your path forever. My brother Elvis, aka E Small, was that person for me. He was the first one to put me in front of the turntables and open my eyes to the world of DJing. What started as moments learning and watching turned into a lifelong passion that shaped the DJ I am today. I’ll always be grateful for that spark he gave me. Much love and respect always to you, my friend. Your influence will forever live through every set I play. 🎧❤️ @bxboogie727 🙏🫡🇩🇴 SINCE 1992. My first mixer was a Realistic mixer 😜RadioShack

Thought they hated me, but they were planning charity shows. Turns out, my DJ influence was huge back then. Realized a misunderstanding, and we talked for hours. #Misunderstanding #Reconciliation #Friendship #DJLife #MusicInfluence #CharityEvent #Storytelling #BehindTheScenes
When a Just Blaze amp blew mid-party, his mom rushed to the rescue. She brought her home stereo system, holding cables under the table to keep the music playing. Talk about dedication! #DJing #MomLove #PartyRescue #MusicStory #90sNostalgia
His Uncles Left The DJ Equipment… That’s When Everything Changed 🎧🔥
Heartbroken to hear that another legend has gone too soon.💔 Dan was a true friend of mine and supported me throughout my entire DJ journey in America. That meant more than I can ever put into words. Dan, what I’ll always remember is your generosity, those incredible parties at your house, and how you welcomed everyone with open arms. Your spirit was something special, and you could feel it every time you played. The crowd didn’t just hear you, they felt you. To say you’ll be missed is an understatement. So many unforgettable nights, so many memories… and somehow it still feels like there should have been more. RIP brother in music 😢
