A blog vs Stubstack, what is the difference? Blogging is making a comeback and here is a simple explanation to help you decide where to start.
These are two of the most popular ways to “blog” right now.
Substack is a platform where you can write long form content that will then get sent via email to your Substack subscribers. You can add a paywall and charge subscribers or keep it free. That’s up to you. The only way you can monetize there is to set up a paid subscription or send your community to another shop/affiliate site. Substack is free to join, but they take a percentage of your paid subscriptions. Their cut varies, I think it’s 10% now and this does not include credit card processing fee.
A blog is your own website and digital brand. This is your “business storefront”. A place your community can find all things for your brand. You can do a gazillion things with a blog vs just being on a social media platform or Substack. The things you can do with a website is endless. There is a learning curve at first, but once your blog is set up, it can be easy to maintain.
You will need:
A Domain Name (see my last video)
A host provider
A website (you can hire a website designer or easily set one up yourself with a template). I use Wordpress.
The best part about blogging is once you achieve a certain amount of unique views per month, you can apply to join an ad network who will monetize your blog for you. This will be your business partner who can help you earn a monthly income in various ways from your blog.
Do you have a blog or a Substack?

Do not spend thousands on a domain name if you do not legally own the brand connected to it.
Many business owners purchase domains, build websites, invest into marketing, and grow their online presence believing that owning the web address means they own the brand. That is not always true.If someone else owns the trademark rights to the name, they may have the legal ability to challenge your use of the brand, force a rebrand, or even pursue ownership of the domain connected to it.
Do not confuse access with ownership.

The rest of the game is constantly changing. But not your domain name. Claim it today 🤩
Kathryn Burn learned a brutal business lesson in real time after pitching her pajama brand, My Every Day Pajamas. While explaining her plans to launch a website, she revealed she had not secured the domain name yet.
Within minutes, the interviewer reportedly bought multiple versions of the domain — including .com, .net, and .uk — instantly creating a major obstacle for the brand. A small delay potentially cost control over the company’s online identity before the business had even launched properly.
The story highlights how fast execution matters in modern business. Domains, trademarks, and social media handles are digital real estate, and once attention is created, hesitation can become expensive. Before sharing an idea publicly, secure ownership first.

This device wants to read your mind.
Based Hardware just revealed “Omi” – an 89 dollar AI device that claims to read your brain signals.
The Mentos-sized device can be worn as a necklace or attached to your temple with medical tape.
It continuously listens to and processes conversations through GPT-4o and claims to detect when you want to talk to it through brain interface technology.
Omi’s founder, Nik Shevchenko addressed privacy concerns by making the platform open source, letting users track their data or keep it stored locally.
It’s worth noting that Shevchenko has been involved in a public dispute with Avi Schiffman - the founder of a similar AI wearable device called “Friend.”
Omi was initially also called “Friend.” And both parties claim the other copied their name and idea.
On March 24, Shevchenko says he built a gadget called “Friend” that day at a hackathon.
Schiffmann appears to have started publicly calling his product ‘Friend’ a month after Shevchenko, but he described his previous name Tab as a “placeholder name” on February 27.
He also has screenshots indicating that he purchased the friend.com domain name on February 6th.
More drama ensued which included a rap diss and a challenge to fight.
Eventually Shevchenko rebranded to “Omi” and both products are now on the market.
Like previous AI wearables that generated initial hype but struggled to find real-world adoption, Omi faces fundamental challenges.
Getting people to embrace an always-listening device, especially one taped to your head, remains a significant hurdle.

DNS — Domain Name System.
Authoritative Name Server.
