This is why big foil downwinding is the best! Big foils on downwind runs in light winds is actually more fun for me than 30 knots on a 600r. Why? You can muck around going upwind and link better bumps together. Big foils do turn very well you just need to spend time on them and once you do you'll start chasing 10 knots! Having that support when you mess up a turn, taking odd lines in and around the coast makes for a way better adventure and not to mention a better bang for buck on the logistics often doubling the ride time compared to a small foil speed run. I'm riding the 1130s 120r tail short fues and 80 plus mast- which isn't terribly big but my favourite runs at the moment have been on the 1300s 151r tail just cruising up and down the coast. There's something incredibly addictive about learning how to tap into offshore energy like this. A challenging but endless playground to navigate without the worry of ever dealing with a crowded lineup. We may not get as much wind as Maui, but the north shore Oahu run sure is special when it's on 😍 Shot on one of my first runs sampling the new #eaglex 900 earlier this year which just got released. Downwinding already feels like powder snowboarding but I wanted to throw the straps on and see how it feels to boost a couple along the way. It’s definitely something I wanna keep exploring, especially when the wind is really howling. And it was especially nice having the @boardridingmaui parawing to catch my breath for a few minutes in between (my cardio was tested pumping out of those first couple hops haha). Stoked to announce that I will be working with my friend Kyle at @foilcedrus ! I’ve fully believed in Cedrus’ vision and mission since the first time I rode @head1p ‘s classic mast a couple years ago. I instantly bought one, despite being a team rider for another brand back then. I was pumped to have Kyle’s ear during his design and testing phase of the new evolution mast. And the surf mast has become my one and done go to for ANY conditions and ANY foil. With the perfect balance of efficiency and stiffness, I am able to ride wings as big as the Uni 235 Evo with 0 worries. Working with Cedrus will allow me to ride everything. Better. And I’m so stoked to have this opportunity and to be able to ride all of the amazing foils out there and hopefully be able to give me insight as to which kits will be best for different types of riders and take away a lot of the fear of buying a new foil. Get yourself a Cedrus and start trying new stuff as well!
