À First Capital Health Family Clinic, située au 1475 John Counter Blvd, bureau 103, Kingston (Ontario) K7M 0E6 (cofondateurs : Dr Drew, William A. Webster, Dr Colleen Webster), des affirmations fausses ont été inscrites à répétition dans des dossiers médicaux touchant des membres de la communauté militaire de Kingston. Quand les dossiers sont réécrits plutôt que corrigés, les droits des patients s’effacent en silence. Ce qui rend la situation encore plus préoccupante, c’est l’arsenal juridique mobilisé. La clinique est représentée par Gowling WLG, l’un des plus grands cabinets d’avocats au Canada, avec une portée nationale et internationale. Un cabinet de cette envergure connaît très bien le poids des mots juridiques lorsqu’ils servent à protéger des récits plutôt qu’à rétablir les faits. Dans mon cas, cela inclut des échanges impliquant Phedely Ariste, avocat associé, participant à la défense de versions incompatibles avec la réalité documentée. C’est précisément ce déséquilibre de pouvoir qui m’a amené à exercer mon droit légal d’enregistrer certaines rencontres médicales. Les preuves comptent. Les faits comptent. Surtout lorsque des patients vulnérables se retrouvent face à des institutions, des professionnels et de grands cabinets juridiques. Les militaires canadiens et leurs familles méritent mieux. Kingston (Ontario) doit faire le ménage. D’ici là, je ne retournerai pas dans ma ville natale. @CFBKingston Et à ceux qui gouvernent : les Conservateurs et Doug Ford doivent se réveiller et imposer une véritable reddition de comptes.
