My sensitivity is both superpower and kryptonite. I love, I laugh, I feel, and I can fall into the abyss of utter despair. But every journey into the deep, is another diamond whetstone grind that sharpens the sword of my soul. So ultimately I wouldn’t change a thing. I want to feel this world, because it is a beautiful world, however fvcked up it may seem at times. And hopefully this transmission from my wife @vylana new show We Are Unique Sound finds some people who need to hear it. Love yall 🐉❤️‍🔥
Seeing our parents so happy as they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this weekend has been one of the highlights of my life. They have shown us that a marriage that’s built on Christ can truly last a lifetime. "I don't want to lose my mum." Ten-year-old Phoebe made this emotional 999 call after her mum collapsed at home in Whetstone, Leicestershire.
Today’s Crested Butte playground: Whetstone! Such a fun mountain to climb and scramble through. Seemed to hit every element in the forest from rocks to logs to cliffs and technical ridges. 10 miles and 4,000 ft of elevation gain. So fun! 🩳: @tenthousand.cc Foundation with liner #betterthanyesterday

In the newest episode of Workers of Columbus, I joined Elaine Hall of @cbusmetroparks and Julia Hatton of @colsrecparks on the job in Whetstone Park for a prescribed prairie burn, a carefully planned and controlled fire used to remove invasive species and return essential nutrients to the soil for a healthy habitat. #WorkersofColumbus #prairies
Thank you @tvjessi for inviting me to celebrate you this weekend as you were honored for @nyhac’s Pirate Pride Award! 💙⚓️ It always feels like home whenever Hamptonians link up. My table was full of HU CBS News alums like myself and to the right of me was Darcus Whetstone, class of 62’, who was honored with the Great Soul’s Inspiration Award. Surrounded by greatness is an understatement. I’m so proud of you Jessi for what you’re doing for the community and for what you’ll go on to do 🥹 👏🏾. #blackexellence #hamptonmade
We are neighbors to a 5th generation ranching family in Crested Butte. Doug and Jan (Spann) Washburn. Today Doug took us on a ride up Whetstone Mountain to put salt out for the cattle. It’s the most amazing ride I’ve ever been a part of. We saw the old wagon trail where covered wagons traveled over the mountain. I can’t imagine how tough those people must have been. Ty asked if they were just sick when the power lines were put up across the land. Doug said “My father in law (Lee) was here the day the turn they turned the electricity on for the first time in the 1940’s or 50’s. It changed their world.” Ty laughed and said “Yea I guess he has a different perspective than me.” It was so special to be a part of a way of life that’s fading fast, especially in resort towns like Crested Butte, where the land is worth millions and it’s not uncommon in ranching to end up with negative profits. Like Doug said “We could sell it for millions but then how would we cowboy?” “Not many ranch children opt to take on the family business these days. It’s a tough life, after all, much easier to move to the city and get a regular job with benefits. The @spannranches family is an exception. Through more than 130 years and five generations, the legacy of Spann Ranches in the Gunnison Valley continues. The ranch was homesteaded in 1878 by Lee Spann’s great-grandparents, the Overstegs, from Switzerland…. There are also occasional conflicts with property owners and visitors, folks who love the expansive views, but don’t understand or appreciate the nature and legacy of ranching and its contributions to that.” - ‘Crested Butte News’ Toni M. From Jordan Marie Brings Three White Horses Whetstone, founder + organizer of Rising Hearts: Indigenous Peoples Day is where we can be visible. For Indigenous Peoples, celebrating our culture and being unapologetically ourselves, is an every day lived and shared experience. For Allie’s, it is an opportunity to learn from Indigenous voices, center Indigenous Peoples, take the opportunity to create space for Indigenous Peoples, and to help promote Indigenous history and storytelling that was for so long, invisible, unpopular or ignored. This is a big moment for community building and fostering kinship, not just allyship or partnership. Indigenous Peoples should have a seat at the table, be visible, be heard, be valued and be protected. HONORING THE PAST: Recognizing Indigenous existence & honoring Ancestral lives and their sacrifices. CELEBRATING THE PRESENT: Indigenous Peoples are still here – with their resilient voices and heart. BUILDING A FUTURE: Creating a future for the next generations to come. The @rising_hearts 4th Annual Indigenous Peoples Day virtual run/walk ends on 10/11! Here’s one of many ways to participate, amplify, donate and support Indigenous Peoples. This is an opportunity to donate, give back and support the heart work of Indigenous communities, families, advocates and organizations! We are STILL here. The first Peoples. We are THRIVING, not just surviving. AMPLIFY INDIGENOUS VOICES. Share their content. Buy Indigenous made / Indigenous owned. Celebrate Indigenous Peoples. Donate. Create space for our voices to be heard. Do more than a land acknowledgement. Be inclusive. Protect Indigenous Peoples.
For Shweta from Vets for Pets Whetstone, being a local vet isn’t just a job, it’s a way to give back to the community she loves.💚 #NationsLocalVet
