Have you ever used real grass for your Easter baskets? 🧺 🐇🐣🪺 #easterbaskets #realgrass Remix from @southernlivingmag
It’s grass Easter basket time!! 🐇 These were a huge hit with my kids last year and I can’t wait to do it again. The grass grows really fast. So you don’t actually want to start these until about 7-8 days before you need them. But you can get your supplies ready. What you’ll need: A basket (pro tip, check out your local secondhand store, mine was packed with 0.25 baskets) Rye Grass Seed ( you only need a handful or so) Something to line your baskets (I used plastic Walmart bags) Potting soil Then about 8 days before you want to have your baskets full grown you’re going to: - line your baskets and fill them with soil - heavily overseed the soil with grass seed - place in a warm sunny location and keep the soil moist - keep watering everyday - if you are just using your window and not using a grow light rotate your baskets so you get even growth Then if you want to add even more whimsy let your kids plant candy seeds and have them grow! 🎀🎉🐰🌸 Happy Easter! #grasseasterbasket #eastercraft #easterbasket

PSA to anyone who wants to grow real grass in their Easter baskets this year! Order your seeds now and get planting. I’m using wheatgrass - part 2 coming! And don’t come for me for being “extra” - need I remind you that’s the whole point. #easterbaskets #easterbasketgrass #kidseaster

This is the week to begin: Grow your Easter basket A small touch of the season to welcome the spring, letting something grow where it’s unexpected and entirely noticed. We line our Easter baskets, fill them with soil, and sow wheatgrass, watching it rise, quickly and softly , into something meadow-like. By the time the holiday arrives, the baskets feel alive. Grown, not assembled or purchased. Celebrating the beauty of connecting us with the earth. From there, we fill them thoughtfully, useful things, seasonal treats, small objects meant to be kept, many passed down. If you’ve been wanting to make your baskets this way, now is the moment to start. The full process is on YouTube, and I’ve written more about our approach to thoughtful, sustainable baskets over on The Arcadian Revivalist.

Are you looking for some inspiration for your kids’ Easter baskets this year? 🐣🌷 This year we’re doing a “New Life” theme, and here are a few of the things we’re putting inside—along with a few guidelines we try to follow when building our baskets: Our basket guidelines: 1. Both kids get the same things 2. Everything has a purpose 3. We try to choose items that will actually be used What we’re including: 🌱 Gardening tools 🧤 Kids’ gardening gloves 🌿 Seed starters 🐦 A bird feeder + bird seed 🩹 Jesus Heals bandages 🐥 Peeps (because they’re iconic) 📖 The Garden and the Cross 📖 The Story of the Lost Sheep
