The Best Probiotic On Earth
The probiotic trend has taken over, but most probiotics are destroyed by your stomach acid before they ever reach the small intestine. The best probiotics on earth come straight from nature. If you have a garden, pick a leaf of parsley or kale, rinse it lightly if needed or don’t rise it if not, and eat it raw. Elevated biotics on living plants are not destroyed hydrochloric acid and reach the gut with their full healing power intact.

David Sinclair explains why colorful fruits and vegetables may do much more than provide vitamins…
They contain powerful molecules called **polyphenols**.
That deep blue and purple color in blueberries?
That’s the polyphenols.
Interestingly, plants often produce these compounds when they’re under stress:
• Too much sun
• Too little water
• Environmental pressure
These molecules help protect the plant.
And according to Sinclair’s “xenohormesis” theory…
We may benefit from them too.
Some important polyphenols include:
• Resveratrol
• Quercetin
• Fisetin
Research suggests these compounds can activate cellular stress-response pathways linked to longevity…
Including proteins called **sirtuins** involved in:
• DNA repair
• Cellular resilience
• Healthy aging
The bigger idea:
Small biological stressors can sometimes make cells stronger.
And plants may pass some of those survival signals to us through food.
That’s why “eat the rainbow” may be more than nutrition advice…
It may be longevity biology.

Why eat animals when you could eat plants?

Here#Self Heal, a plant which has many claims about what it can do. Do I believe them? Well, I don’t know is the answer. It contains things which are supposed to do these things, but who knows? You can tell me what you think.
Just to make it very clear, the plant is called Self Heal. Last time I made a film about this, all these people said, “What’s the plant called?” It’s called Self Heal, or sometimes Heal All.
And it does contain all sorts of nice things. I think it’s a very pretty plant. It is edible as well. But yeah, all sorts of wild claims and folklore, etc.
Subsequently, having made the film, I think it may have been a silver sickle, not a gold scythe. But then, you know, I was in the moment. That’s all I can say.
Anyway, enjoy.

SHE ASKED FOR SECONDS! 🤯
Yup, my daughter asks for a tofu and veggie bowl each and every week.
And to be fair, she grew up in a plant-based home so this is all she knows (though she’s free to make her own food decisions when she’s out and about).
So things like tofu, tempeh, edamame, beans, lentils, and other plant-based ingredients are no big deal for her.
HOW DO YOU GET YOUR FAMILY USED TO EATING MORE PLANTS?
1️⃣ TALK ABOUT IT
Tell them you’re ready to make a change in your eating and your lifestyle, and your reasons for wanting to do it. Ask for their support, even if they’re not ready to make a change.
2️⃣ GET THEM INVOLVED
Many times women end up being the sole meal decision maker, shopper, and even cook – but then they tell me no one in their family would be happy if they start cooking plant-based meals. If your family wants to have opinions, they should get involved in the planning and prep for meals! This includes children; starting early with getting them involved with gathering food (even gardening!) and cooking sets them up for success in the future.
3️⃣ MAKE SMALL SHIFTS
You don’t have to go plant-based overnight. Simply replacing one animal-based meal per week with a plant-centric meal is a great start. Children especially need multiple introductions to new foods before they try them, and possibly many more times until they actually eat them regularly.
4️⃣ MODEL CHANGE
Seeing you add that extra helping of plants, skipping the cheese, or choosing a dairy-free milk option can be enough to help family members make small decisions to eat more plants over time.
5️⃣ CELEBRATE SMALL WINS
It’s very rare that someone overhauls their entire diet and lifestyle overnight. Keep track of the small wins each day, for both yourself and your family.

The weed taking over your garden is actually free food.
Oxalis — also called wood sorrel — grows in almost every garden in Australia and most people spend their weekends trying to get rid of it. The irony is that she has been feeding humans on almost every continent for thousands of years.
In Wales she is called fairy bells. Native Americans chewed her on long journeys to quench thirst. The Cherokee used her for fevers, sore throats and mouth sores. She flowers around Easter which gave her the name Alleluia in some traditions. She has been gathered, eaten and used as medicine for as long as humans have been pulling weeds.
Nutritionally she is genuinely impressive — rich in vitamin C, calcium, magnesium and potassium. That sour lemony tang comes from oxalic acid, the same compound in spinach and rhubarb, and in normal quantities is completely fine. Eat the leaves, flowers and little seed pods raw in salads, stirred through eggs, or squeezed into dressings for a natural lemon hit.
One caution — avoid large quantities if you have kidney stones or gout.
The most persistent weed in your garden. Also one of the most generous.
This is The Feral Life.
