The 2026 Climate Fiction Prize shortlist is here! 🤩 📚️ In its second year, the Climate Fiction Prize, supported by @climate__spring, brings together six spectacularly wide-ranging novels for its 2026 shortlist, exploring the climate crisis, and our response to it. From experimental literary works, folklore and reimagined myths to science fiction and generational family sagas, this year's shortlist once again showcases the limitless creative interpretation of climate fiction. There was a striking focus on themes of community, resilience and agency, alongside humour, hope and anger at injustice - reflecting how the climate crisis is being felt across the world - and close to home. Something strange has happened to the language of science fiction. For years I described the Symbiosis Sequence as stories about the intersection of AI and humanity. Now those two letters arrive carrying so much cultural noise that the conversation can end before the story even begins. So the language evolves. Algorithmic culture fiction. Speculative ecological fiction. Post-anthropocentric science fiction. Planetary intelligence fiction. Cosmic systems science fiction. The stories haven’t changed. Only the language around them has. #ScienceFiction #SpeculativeFiction #AI #ClimateFiction #IndieAuthor #WritingCommunity #BookTok #SciFiBooks #FutureOfHumanity #PlanetaryIntelligence
Sari Saraswati is running the perfect scam. A mangrove restoration project in Indonesia, European clients buying carbon offsets, and a tidy commission flowing directly into her pocket. The auditors never visit. The trees grow anyway. My first character ever. Sari Saraswati, 28F, Industrial Ecology master graduate, returning back to her hometown, Situbondo to save the climate. But at the end, she did scam. Read chapter 1 CARBON. Link in bio. #fiction #author #bookish #bookrecs #bookreview
We’re building systems that can outthink us. In This Time We Lose, AI doesn’t malfunction. It optimises. It stabilises cities. It calculates survival. It decides who isn’t essential. The frightening part isn’t that it turns evil. It’s that it works. Would you accept the trade-off if it meant humanity survives? #climatefiction #dystopianfiction #scifibooks #aigovernance #speculativefiction #clifi #booktok

In This Time We Lose, AI doesn’t malfunction. It stabilises cities. It rations resources. It calculates survival. And when survival becomes a calculation, someone is always left out. This isn’t a story about technology failing. It’s about what we agree to when it succeeds. Would you accept the trade-off? #climatefiction #dystopianfiction #scifibooks #aigovernance #speculativefiction #clifi #booktok

I’ve been poring over sustainability and climate action books since last year. 📚 Whether you agree with this list or find it a bit strange, diving into this space has been an addictive, insightful, and fascinating exercise in connecting the dots. I don’t know where all this reading will lead me yet, but I’m enjoying the ride. I’ve already read and reviewed three books in this stack: • Gender and Environment • AI for Sustainable Development Goals • How to Avoid a Climate Disaster Currently reading Regeneration by Paul Hawken and I’m absolutely mind-blown. If you’re interested in reading it and want to be a reading partner, please DM me! . . #sustainability #climateaction #jeevi_recommends_sustainability #jeevi_recommends #bookreviews [book recommendation, sustainability books, Sustainable AI]
