Tips for Your Residency ERAS application!✨📝 Make sure to use power words! 💥 - Instead of saying, I was part of the leadership team of the student run clinic who helped opened a new student run clinic.” You should say, “I led a group of 15 board members and spearheaded the opening of a new community specialty clinic.” Highlight your impact! 🫱🏽‍🫲🏾 - While you may have had a lot of different roles in your experiences, don’t list them all. Focus on those significant roles in which you made a great impact in the organization or on patients. Quantify your achievements! 🏆 - Instead of “I helped fundraised money for childhood cancer,” say “I fundraised $5,000 towards childhood cancer.” - Or instead of “I volunteered to screene people in my community for COVID,” say “I screened over 300 community members for COVID.” Let me know if that helps! Day 15/50: yesterday’s #project50 reels video You guys will not believe the night I had. We had such a huge influx of patients that I didn’t have a free second to post a video that I made already. In fact, I barely had time to pee or drink or eat or sit down. As a healthcare worker, especially one working in an emergency department, there are no scheduled breaks. We don’t get a lunch hour, and if you don’t make yourself go eat, you might never. One important form of self-care is remembering to replenish your fuel, no matter how many people are waiting in triage. There is always more to do, more patients to see you and more tests to order and more results to analyze. But at some point, you have to be able to allow yourself to take a small break, otherwise you’ll never make it through your shift. I used to regularly go 12 hours without peeing, and no more than 10 minutes’ break to scarf down food.
