I used a thrifted top and fabric and made a skirt and embellished the top with trim and lace and a cute silk bow! **SERIOUSLY UNDERRATED SERIES ALERT** The Unselected Journals of Emma Lion are: - Funny (I genuinely laughed out loud) - Unique (I’ve never read anything quite like it!) - Set in the late 1800’s in London (hello historical fiction fix) - Witty and charming (Emma is hilarious, think hints of Elizabeth Bennet and Jane Turpin) - Threaded with love interests (please let Islington win!) - Reminiscent of the Life and Death Brigade #gilmoregirls - Totally fabulous and if you like any of the above qualities in your books then this series is for you!! I loved all of these books, but some of the people I have leant them too struggled a little with the first one because you’re still getting grounded, but were totally sold by number three! In a recent re-read of Volume 3, this phrase caught my eye. I get a kick out of archaic, forgotten words - so I did a little research and was delighted with what I found! The origin of what we now call “the blues”. 😒🥺😢 Bless you Beth, for all the rich detail you weave into these Emma volumes - not just plot lines, characters, and places, but also wonderful words from another time. I thought of this phrase again as I got some disappointing news recently. A bad back has recently changed into a “worse back” and surgery might be on the near horizon. It has me feeling a bit blue-devilled. 😔 If it does go in that direction —just like our Emma — I have an alchemy of friends (and my sweet family) that will support me and help me heal. Another blessing would be that I can also use the down-time to indulge myself with sweet nothings I usually don’t have time for!
