Six years ago, Virginia became the 38th state needed to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, meeting the constitutional threshold required for adoption. The ERA explicitly ensures that the U.S. Constitution finally guarantees gender equality, more than 230 years after it was written. Despite this milestone, the amendment has still not been officially recognized due to political and legal barriers.
