Eventful week over here. Our dog jumped up and hit his head under the countertop and a chunk of our Taj Mahal quartzite broke off. Since I’ve been getting lots of questions, yes, he has been to the vet and he’s okay! He barely hit his head on there, there was a vein on the corner, which made the Taj Mahal stone a lot weaker and more susceptible to breaking. It was a freak accident, and thankfully nobody was hurt. 🙏🏻

Over the weekend, our group went on a climbing trip that turned out to be far more eventful than we expected. We had parked our vehicles near the trailhead and stayed out overnight while we climbed. At some point, someone noticed that the vehicles hadn’t moved and became concerned about our safety. Acting out of genuine care, they contacted the police to request a wellness check, worried that something may have gone wrong. While we were on the mountain, we could actually see the individual from the summit area, unaware at the time that they had initiated the call. Shortly afterward, one of the guys in our group received a phone call from his dad, who explained that the police were trying to get in touch with him and were preparing to send a cruiser to check on us. Once we realized what was happening, we immediately called the non-emergency number to let authorities know that we were safe and that no assistance was needed. Despite that call, about twenty minutes later a search and rescue helicopter began circling above us, clearly responding to the earlier concern. Although it was surprising to see such a large response, it reinforced how seriously these situations are taken and how quickly help is mobilized when people might be in danger. When we eventually returned to our vehicles, we found that the person who had originally called in the concern had left their phone number on the back of one of our cars. We gave them a call to thank them personally for looking out for us and for taking the time to make sure we were okay. In the end, while the situation was unexpected, it was reassuring to know that someone was willing to act out of concern for our safety #adventure #outdoor #climbing #rescue #mountain
