Tbh summoning up my creativity lately has felt really really difficult. I know I’m not alone in experiencing mental fatigue, overwhelmed and anxious about the future. My only answer to it is to take care of myself, my loved ones, and move through it as best I can. I work with fluid media BECAUSE of its unruly nature, because I have to accept and move with flow even when it doesn’t give me back what I wanted. Finishing each piece is like a problem solving puzzle that will only unlock if I let go of control.

Drawing on elements of nature, Korean artist Seonmi Kang creates tranquil spaces of rest for the viewer. She isolates natural motifs—trees, seas, skies, sun, and moon—against soft tones and soothing patterns, for serene, storybook-like compositions.
Our curators’ recently spoke with Seonmi about her practice and the inspirations behind her work. Read our One to Watch interview at the link in bio.

I love diptychs! Each panel could stand alone, but when they’re side by side, the images and idea work together for a fuller expression. I have another waiting in the wings. Check back to see a less conventional approach!

It's getting close, just needs some final finessing. I'm positive this one needs to be called "Sunshine" though.
