It’s the perfect escape for a peaceful day out. Tips: 👑 The market @favershammarkets runs on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with the best atmosphere on Saturdays. 👑 Take a stroll down the famous Abbey Street to see the town’s stunning medieval architecture. 👑 Don’t miss a visit to Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewery, right in the town center. @shepherdneame Transport: You can get here on a direct train from London Victoria or St Pancras to Faversham station. Free day out at the Kent coast! Save this post for next time you need a budget friendly day out with the kids. We parked at Tankerton slopes, which has loads of free street parking. From here it was an easy walk along the sea front to Whitstable. The beach is pebbly with a concrete path for buggies, scooters and wheel chairs. We had chips at the harbour, and the kids tried oysters for the first (and probably last!) time. Our final stop was @bearsicecream - locally made ice cream in crazy flavours! Think peanut butter brittle, strawberry and basil, gooseberry crumble, lemon meringue pie. Flavours you’d never seen anywhere else, and yet weirdly seem to work. There are public toilets all along this route, it’s dog friendly and definitely budget friendly. Follow @kentkids_daysout for more places to visit with kids in the south east 💚

Speaking to camera, Patrick said the pair had been 'looking through the railings at children playing games' in the local school park. He explained the men told him they were from Iraq and both claimed to be 17-years-old.
