Film festivals aren't just for filmmakers—they're a strategic way to market your screenplay. The Advantages: ✓ Access: Decision makers (producers, reps, financiers, programmers) gathered in one place ✓ Real-time feedback: You feel the energy when someone leans in and wants to read ✓ Credibility: Official selections signal your work has passed curation The Disadvantages: ✗ Expensive: Travel, passes, lodging add up fast ✗ Crowded rooms: Everyone's pitching. It's noise if you're not strategic ✗ Comparison trap: Watching others get meetings/deals can shake your confidence How to Cut Through the Noise: → Research attendees in advance → Request meetings before arrival → Know your log line cold → Tailor your pitch to each person (not the same speech) → Listen more than you talk → Follow up within 24 hours → Lead with clarity, preparation, and confidence (not desperation) My Approach: Relationships over transactions. I'm not trying to sell in one conversation—I'm connecting, understanding what people want, and checking for alignment. 10 Prestigious Festivals for Screenwriters: • Sundance Film Festival • Austin Film Festival • Academy Nicholl Fellowships • Cannes Film Festival • Toronto International Film Festival • Tribeca Festival • Venice International Film Festival • Berlin International Film Festival • SXSW Film Festival • AFI Fest The Bottom Line: A festival amplifies what's already there—it won't fix a weak script. So when you walk in that room, are you seeking validation, or are you ready to build real, long-term relationships around your work?

POV: You’re the production liability. 🚩 We all love the talent, but nobody wants to be the person slowing down the entire squad because their process is a mess. In an industry this fast, “good enough” prep is high-key a risk. Stop pulling a Chalamet and start being the asset your team actually needs. 📈 The Level Up: ❌ The Problem: Manual, soul-crushing script tagging that creates bottlenecks for everyone. ✅ The Solution: FilmTailor AI automates your breakdowns so you can stay ahead of the curve. 🚀 The Flex: Cut production time by 60% and keep the vibes immaculate. Maximise the workflow. Minimise the drama. 🛠️ 👉 Check the link in bio to lead your team better 🔗 #Chalamet #FilmTech #FilmTailor #ProductionLife #WorkflowOptimisation

All that should matter is merit and yet what matters is how many people you talk to and are friendly to. While it does make sense from the point of view of a business, it does not feel the same as a ln artist/filmmaker. Why should your craft be only appreciated or seen when you know certain people in certain positions? Why should it matter? If you truly have the diligence & discipline to gain the craft and an intrinsic creative spirit, you should get a chance on a film set. This is what @thefeaturefilmschool is all about. If you have what it takes, you are welcome at TFFS. Apply now. @filmcrewmagazine @filmmakersworld @ukfilmwork
