These last few months I’ve been working with the Thypoch Simera C both in fiction and documentary, thanks to robisa.es, and in this reel I share my experience with them.

The Olympus OM Zuiko 50mm f/2 Macro is a legendary manual focus lens introduced in 1985 for the OM film system.
Despite its age, it can easily be adapted to modern mirrorless cameras using a simple OM-mount adapter.

Camera lenses are expensive. Very expensive.
I often wish that my lens selection was a bit larger - but each new addition sets my bank account back. This December I was going through my camera gear and came across an old film camera bag stuffed full of analog lenses just taking up room in my closet. Then it hit me, what if I could start using my lenses for my film cameras on my Sony A7IV. After a quick google search, I found a great little lens adaptor from URTH (a company with a great environmental mission that I was familiar with from buying Polarizer filters a few years back).
A few days later, I received an adaptor that lets me connect my lenses from my old Minolta X-700 film camera to the Sony E-Mount on my A7IV.
While it doesn’t have any of the modern features like autofocus, focus tracking, or the ability to set aperture in camera, using these old lenses provides such a nostalgic feeling to taking photos, with some of them causing some really cool vintage film effects due to the wear and tear on them over the years.
Now I have a whole new set of lenses to add to my photo arsenal. Will I use them on commercial shoots? no. but for personal projects where I want that vintage filmy vibe? You’ll catch me with an old analog lens on the front of my Sony Camera.
