I rarely show this much behind-the-scenes but I know how hard it is to feel like an actor, siloed, recording audition tapes in a void and wondering if you’re hitting the mark. So here’s part of my audition tape for Tyler Perry’s “Finding Joy.” đŸ„° I’m proud of my work in the audition but even more proud of it in the film. An audition is only ever a taste of what you can do and it’s hard to get as much character work defined in such a short time. So don’t beat yourself up for imperfections. In fact, EMBRACE them. 💝 Never forget, that every audition is your chance to show off what you can do—not from a place of ego, but from a place of TRUTH. If you lead with honest connection, you can never go wrong. You may not book the role, but you’ll consistently make good impressions with casting directors. And that’s the real win. Your career is long. It’s about so much more than any one audition. Make your auditions part of your body of work — your legacy of consistent good work.💯 Let me know if this makes sense and if you have questions.
