Free Bird! Sound On!
It is the classic by Lynyrd Skynyrd. And it works so well with this floor flow combo. Here we are moving through a rotational X-roll to a thigh stretch, then progress to a seated side bend roll with half revolution and then full revolutions. This combo has a lot of soft and stretchy fluid movements that feel so good on the body. Regress by skipping the quad stretch and the full revolution in the last movement.
This was part of a recent Move, Breathe, Play LIVE (and recorded) class on The Playground. It was all about soft and fluid floor based movement. We started simply and slowly and progressed to Free Bird. Bolster supported twists and restorative poses concluded this class. Our members said it felt like a full body massage!

MOTION QUALIA
„Learn how to stimulate your brain to deliberately lose balance by provoking your reflexes which induce inevitable movement.“
Workshop with Satoshi Kudo
🗓️06. + 07.12.2025
⏰15:00–18:00
🔗Registration in bio
Level: advanced / professional dancers
(or strong movement background in a related area)
This is not a choreography, this is not an improvisation. This is a conversation between two bodies.
In Motion Qualia you explore the spectrum of your own reflexes and engage in a physical dialogue with your partner. You meet each other in a state of continuous off-balance, activating the amygdala and awakening instinctive responses. This creates a form of connection that emerges without prearranged pathways or any fixed destination. By sustaining this exchange, you develop your technical capacities and cultivate a deeper sense of bodily autonomy.
About Satoshi
Satoshi Kudo is a Stockholm-based dancer and choreographer who has performed with renowned artists such as Ohad Naharin, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and the Danish Dance Theatre. He has served as assistant choreographer and rehearsal director for Eastman/Cherkaoui’s major productions, including Michael Jackson ONE (Cirque du Soleil), Der Ring des Nibelungen, and SUTRA. Kudo has also collaborated with the Royal Swedish Ballet on works by Mats Ek, Johan Inger, Alexander Ekman, and Sharon Eyal.

✨Gyrokinesis Floor Flow✨
Some of you may remember this from last year’s Morning Movement Challenge, where we flowed through this Gyrokinesis class for a full week — layering in tid bits of information and inspiration each day.
Each year as my birthday rolls around, I feel a call to turn inward and reflect, and it felt like the perfect moment to bring this class back. Sometimes returning to something familiar reveals just how much we’ve grown. So, I invite you to join me in this little ritual of reflection — no fancy equipment or complicated choreography, just an easy, at-home flow to settle in and notice where you are in mind and body.
For those of you who joined alongside me for the challenge, I invite you to revisit this class with fresh eyes and new perspective. Notice what’s shifted over the past year — your approach, your mindset, your habits. Does the class feel familiar? Different? Are there new sparks of insight or ah-ha moments? Maybe your body has changed or even your relationship to movement has changed.
Whatever you find, let this class be a safe place to meet yourself with care and notice how far you’ve come.

Easier 180-rolls? It’s not about speed IF you master the tasks below.
❌ They all help avoid one of the most common mistakes I see adults make when learning supporting acrobatics:
🏎️ 💨 Trying it fast, instead of building it slowly. 🐌
All clips above are in real time. Not slowed down.
That shows you that you don’t have to rush, to make this skill work.
Most people judge the final outcome of a skilled performer, see that it looks fast and think that ‘practice has to feel fast’.
But this almost always leads to shortening ranges of motion, missing your timing and is the cause for harder, discouraging falls.
Master the tasks below, for bruise-free 180 rolls.
1) Straddle foot tap
It allows you to slow down the right shoulder to left shoulder transition as much as you need to.
2) Wall support
This naturally requires the hip kip and allows you to experience the shoulder transition with a higher hip, closer to the final skill. Credit to @oscar.boerger where I saw it first!
3) Forearm transition
Can you get from a backwards roll into a forearm stand? And can you switch from a half forearmstand to a half forearmstand on the other side? If yes, the backwards 180 roll is about 3 minutes away. 😉
4) Headstand transition
This trains a high kip, while decreasing the timing demand. That means it is easier to coordinate, than the fast 180 roll, because once you’re in the headstand shape, you can take as much time as you need for the shoulder transition.
If you’re struggling with a skill, comment or DM ‘unstuck’ and I can point you to my best (free) resources!
Much love,
move well,
with joy,
Aaron 💙
