Florida winter hits different. Every time the temperature dips below fifty degrees, Florida basically enters survival mode. Phone alarms start going off. People walk outside confused like the world is ending. Tourists are in shorts. Locals are in hoodies, socks, sandals, and pure panic. And the wildlife is just done. Iguanas freeze up like someone hit the pause button. They fall from trees, land on sidewalks, and just lay there like they are reconsidering every life decision that brought them to this moment. If you are new here, no they are not dead. They thaw out. They reboot like an iPhone update. One minute they look like a frozen statue. The next minute they sprint away like they are late for work. It is one of the most Florida things you will ever experience. This is our version of winter. No snow. No scarves. No ice scraping. Just sunshine, palm trees, and an occasional cold front that turns everybody dramatic and sends iguanas into power saving mode. If you see one on the ground, do not panic. Do not try to cuddle it. And definitely do not take it home. It will wake up in your car and that is the day you meet Jesus. Stay warm out there Florida. We are built for hurricanes, gators, and tourists in the left lane. But cold weather?
