I’ve been really enjoying this beautiful Ocarina from Singing Tree Flutes 🤍 @singingtreeflutes It has such an ancient, earthy quality to it… very calming, haunting, and intuitive to play. I found a guy selling flutes in Goa 🇮🇳🎶 He originally asked for ₹500, and I tried to negotiate… by offering him ₹1,000 instead. 😂💀 I guess I’m officially the worst negotiator in India. But the flute sounded amazing, so honestly… worth it. 😂 #Goa #India #IndiaTravel #GoaTravel #IndianCulture

Flutes can be made from a variety of materials. This flute is made of carbon fiber, which combines light weight and superb rigidity. It uses elastomer gaskets instead of traditional leather or fish-skin pads. Unlike traditional pads, which are placed inside the key cups, the gaskets are attached to the tone holes on the body, and they reduce variation in the physical properties that affect the flute’s timbre. Instead of the traditional springs, magnets return the keys to their resting positions. We invited professional flutist Jasmine Choi (@jasminechoi_flutist) to demonstrate the sound of this exceptional instrument. See this carbon fiber flute and more than 100 other rare flutes in our current special exhibition, The Magical Flute: Beauty, Enchantment, and Power—closing September 13! Link in our bio! Private Collection Sponsored by John & Joan D’Addario Foundation, Mary Ann & John Mangels, and PNC Bank #MusicHistory #Flute #Museum #Instrument
