The mighty March Brown hatch is long awaited by anglers and trout alike. One of our most beloved hatches of the year is off to a great start and fish are keyed in. Our all time favorite commercial nymph to target fish feeding subsurface on March Brown Nymphs is Croston’s @howard_croston_fly_fisher_ Full Metal Jacket from our friends at @fulling_mill. March Browns are in the clinger family of mayflies meaning they have a distinct body and leg shape that sets them apart from other nymphs adrift. This is where fishing a Full Metal Jacket gives you an edge. The hair collar for legs really kicks out and is suggestive of a clinger nymph. It is tied with a biot which adds realistic segmentation. It features an extra heavy tungsten drop bead gets down deep, and is especially useful in high spring flows. Trout Snack Tuesday // The Salmonfly Hatch Is Here! These bugs are massive and can be an incredibly fun way to fish down here in the Canyon. Look for walking speed water about 3-4' deep either along grassy banks or inside ledges. We like to fish shorter more stout leaders to get these bugs turned over. Stop by the shop and pick out some of these big bugs and start throwing triple cheeseburgers this spring! #flyfishing #salmonfly #flyshop #yakimariverflyfishing

🚨 FLOOD STAGE!!! It’s been a wild week in Northern Michigan with nearly every river completely blown out and most beyond flood stage. Unfortunately we’ve seen the unbelievable power of water wash out roads, bridges, and more. For most, river fishing is on hold until flows drop and stabilize. It’s a great time to organize your gear and maybe think about hitting the lakes this spring. Once the water recedes, there will be a ton of restoration to be done, this is a great time to renew your membership and connect with our local @adamschaptertroutunlimited and other conservation groups in the area. #fishingreport #boardmanriver #midwestflyfishing #flyfishmichigan #flyshop
