Rooting for everyone hoping to become a physician-no matter what age/background you are from or where you are in the premed journey!
I joined med instagram during the pandemic because most in person activities were cancelled, and I was really grateful to be able to learn from so many amazing examples. No matter whether you’re a Montrachet, someone in college, a career changer, or someone with children, you are bound to find someone you can relate to and connect with online. Thank you so much to everyone for being here

Ever wonder about those abbreviations at the end of a doctor’s credentials?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The majority of medical students in the U.S. pursue a traditional M.D. - which stands for doctor of medicine. It’s focused on modern, research-based medicine.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Doctors of osteopathic medicine - D.O. - take a more holistic approach that includes many hours of additional training focused on the musculoskeletal system.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the U.S., both are licensed by the same boards, and must meet the same standards for practicing medicine.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now you know.

"I just graduated college and I'm starting my gap year — but I don't know how to balance everything. AMCAS, the MCAT, working full time… how do I fit it all in?"
Here's what I tell every pre-med about their gap year. It should be one of the best years of your life. Period. You just graduated. That chapter is closed — congratulations. Whatever happened in college is now in the past, and there's nothing more you can do about it. A new page is open in front of you.
But here's the trick: the future is open and the future is a mirage. It hasn't happened yet. Med school, your career, your career-after-your-career — none of it is real yet, and obsessing over it doesn't make it arrive faster.
It just steals the year you actually have. So live in this one. Take every day one at a time. Study when you need to. Work when you need to. Prep for the MCAT, submit your AMCAS, do the things. But also: play when you want to. See the friends. Take the trip. Sleep in on a Saturday without guilt.
This is your last chance to be this version of yourself before residency, attending life, and all the responsibility that follows. Your gap year should not be a longer version of college. It should be its own year. Make it count — both ways.

🏔 My College GPA Journey 🏔
Maintaining a high GPA is like climbing a mountain. If you fall a bit, you 𝐂𝐀𝐍 climb back up. For those of you starting college right now:
1. Wear a mask lol
2. Know that one bad semester won’t kill you.
Jump back on the🏔 and keep climbing.
