Future and current designers got a glimpse into the new reality of seeing building designs before it even exists. ๐๐ก
We had the opportunity to host @lauraudesigncollective and @universityofhouston for an immersive group tourโshowcasing how ๐๐

This is where ideas stop being imaginedโฆ and start being experienced. โจ

Most people walk into a space and feel somethingโฆ without knowing why. Thatโs visual tension, a simple design principle used in architecture and experience design to shape how people move through a space. Design is never random.
More ways on how we design experiences, coming next. See you in the next episode.

Experience is never direct โ it's always a synthesis. I'm discussing this idea in a lecture at Harvard this Wednesday. Physical sensation, technological mediation, and social constructs don't just shape what we experience โ they construct the conditions under which experience is even possible. Design operates inside all three simultaneously. Designing within one while ignoring the others is selective agnosia.

Why is architecture losing its relevance? How does it need to change to become more relevant again? And how are you playing your part?๐๐ญ

Sometimes the most valuable conference takeaway isnโt something new, itโs hearing familiar ideas in a way that helps everything finally click.
At UXCON25, one returning attendee shared that while he attends many conferences as part of his work as a licensed architect, what stood out here was how conversations and sessions helped him connect ideas he already knew in a fresh way.
Thatโs the power of community, new perspectives that help us grow.
And the conversation continues at UXCON26.

Disruptors of Architecture
Thursday, April 9th, 2026
6:30pm at Avery 100
Bridging Architecture, Practice, and Industry, this event is to challenge the larger field of architecture, and how we can redefine the future of (a)rchitecture โ as a profession, practice, and discourse. Why do Architects disrupt? What are other fields Architects can disrupt in? Who are these disruptors? How can they disrupt?
Architecture as a practice and business operates between art, design, craft, and foremost, entrepreneurship. This course explores various opportunities of how creatives can use applied research and integration architecture, by leveraging the studentโs diverse skills and techniques learnt in the field of architecture to create innovative business ventures within the built environment, and beyond.
Speakers include Daniel Lรณpez-Pรฉrez (University of San Diego), Salome Asega (New Inc.), Mick McConnell (Airbnb). Organized and moderated by Wendy W. Fok (WE-DESIGNS) and Lydia Kallipoliti (AAD Director), with support from Georgios Koltiris.
Transductions Symposium: AI in Architectural Experimentation
This spring, the Transductions Symposium on Artificial Intelligence in Architectural Experimentation will bring together a group of architecture and design educators from a variety of schools for a conversation on the emergence of artificial intelligence and its potential to open up new experimental, co-creative, and co-generative areas of architectural inquiry. Convened by the Pratt Institute School of Architecture, symposium participants will include Jonas Coersmeier, Curry J. Hackett, Ed Keller, Sandra Manninger, and Jason Vigneri-Beane. Please join us in Higgins Hall for questions, critiques, and conversation amidst a visual backdrop of imagery.

He designs for a ghost.
Imagine an architect hired to design a companyโs new headquarters. Brilliant portfolio. Award-winning. Stunning renderings.
But heโs afraid of messy conversations. He never meets the employees. He reads a list of needs and retreats to his studio.
When the company moves in, the problems begin. The space is beautiful โ and completely disconnected from the people inside it.
This is how most commercial spaces get designed. And itโs why I wrote Design Democracy.
The book is available now on Amazon - link in bio.
