Swamp puppy purring?! Nope, this is actually bellowing, he’s talking to other gators and the sound has nothing to do with me or my presence! This is one of my older videos of Casper the alligator bellowing! Alligators bellow to convey health and size information to surrounding gators for breeding, social, and territorial reasons. They bellow year round but with much more frequency in the breeding season. The sound emitted directly correlates to the gator’s size, providing an accurate size estimate to whoever is listening(and knows what to listen for!)When male alligators bellow, the powerful low frequency sound waves actually cause the water over their backs to bounce up, creating a “water dance”. I like to share my old memories, but also a reminder to everyone who sees old content served up fresh and doesn’t know, I haven’t seen Casper in years and probably never will again. This is when I lived in south Florida, before I moved to north Florida and started my own animal sanctuary. Casper was at the outpost in homestead, a nearly 400 mile drive from where I am now, and last I heard the owners have sold the property to Lennar Homes and the entire area is being developed into cookie cutter homes. I want to share this memory, as I want to share a lot of my previous work and videos, but PLEASE understand I am 100% focused on MY sanctuary now. I don’t have any updates on Casper, I’ll likely never do a video with Casper again, I’m doing my thing and just want to share memories, and that’s all I can give you. I love Casper and have many great memories, but I’m also completely focused on my own sanctuary now. I don’t receive any updates or info on Casper or anything going on in south Florida, you guys probably know more than I do at this point. #gator #animals

Feeding time for my girl coconut! 🥥 I gave her a plate of delicious options and, as you can see, she is a fan of the liver. Perfect display of how these amazing animals eat. Since gators can’t chew they would chomp or death roll and break apart their food for a more manageable feeding. 🐊 Although, for coconut, she gets high class dinning and we cut food into bite sized pieces just to her liking. 💖
