USA’S MOST SCENIC ROAD DETAILS ⬇️ 📍 The Going To The Sun Road in Glacier National Park, Montana stretches over 50 miles through some of the most spectacular scenery in all of North America. 🌲 During the stunning, bucket list worthy drive visitors are treated to breathtaking views of snow capped mountain peaks, glaciers, emerald-blue alpine lakes, subalpine meadows, ancient forests, and even wildlife, if you’re lucky. 🛣️ To drive this road you will either need to book an online reservation at recreation.gov OR arrive before or after reservation required hours: 6am-3pm. The road is usually open late May-early September. Check nps.gov for road openings & closures. 🏔️ This epic stretch of road takes you through Glacier National Park. We enjoyed driving on it early to watch the sun come up over the mountains. This also helps avoid the highest trafficked times! 🚙 To drive straight through, from the West Entrance to the East entrance, without stopping takes about 2 hours to drive the full 50 miles. We recommend giving yourself a several hours so you have time to stop at pull offs or even at a trailhead to do some hiking. 💌 Send this to someone who needs to take this drive with you! Comment if you have a drive you think is just as beautiful if not more! 🙌🏼 #glacier #glaciernationalpark #nationalparks #usatravel #roadtrip

Would you go ice climbing on a glacier in Iceland? 🧊🇮🇸 @inspiredbyiceland This might be one of the coolest things you can do in South Iceland—and easily one of the most unforgettable experiences on any Iceland bucket list. At Sólheimajökull Glacier, just off the South Coast between the Golden Circle and Vík, you can actually walk on a glacier… and then climb it. With a guide, you strap on crampons, pick up an ice axe, and step onto this surreal landscape of deep crevasses and electric blue ice. It’s one of the most unique glacier tours in Iceland, and what makes it even better is that you don’t need prior experience—this is real ice climbing in Iceland for beginners, done safely with experts. If you’re planning a trip and wondering what to do in Iceland beyond waterfalls, this is the kind of experience that turns your itinerary into something unforgettable. It pairs perfectly with a South Iceland road trip, especially if you’re heading toward Vík Iceland, Skógafoss, or the black sand beaches. For anyone researching what not to miss in Iceland, this is it. Not just seeing the landscape—but actually stepping onto it. Would you do it? ❣️‼️Comment GLACIER and I’ll send you a link to book the exact tour we used. 📍Vik, Iceland . . #icelandtrip #iceclimbing #glacier #vik #icelandtravel

I drank water straight off this glacier while I was pregnant with her and said a prayer that it would somehow make her love ice as much as I do. We carried her out here when she was a baby, sat her down on a jacket so she could touch the ice before she could even walk, and have been telling her stories about these glaciers since before she could talk. This year felt like an entirely new experience unlocked - for the first time she is stable and confident enough on her feet for us to trust her navigating the ice on her own (with close monitoring, of course!) with spikes on her boots. It was so fun to watch her gain confidence, learn to trust her feet (and learn when it’s too steep for them to grip), and fall in love with this landscape on her own. It didn’t come without discomfort! We learned her boots were leaking and her socks got wet, we should have packed even more snacks than expected, and by the end we were all quite grumpy. Gone (for now) are the days of multi-mile quests into the backcountry on the glacier carrying rafts & ice gear, spending hours out on the ice, and doing whatever we want for as long as we want. There will be plenty of time for that in the future, but for now we’re pretty happy with this short little loop showing our girl a glimpse into the world that made us fall in love with Alaska in the first place. Glaciers are hard, and there are none with easy access up here. But when we can pull it off, it’s always worth a few hours on the ice 🧊🩵 #alaska #glacier #adventure
