GLENARM CASTLE WHERE? 📍 Glenarm Castle, 2 Castle Lane, Glenarm, BT44 0BQ, Northern Ireland INFORMATION 💷FREE-shops, food outlets, play park PAID- Land Rover experience, walled garden , woodland walk and heritage centre, castle tours 🅿️Free parking 🚾 Toilets and baby change on site ☕️lots of places to buy food and coffee This historic estate has stood here since the 1500s and is still the home of the Earls of Antrim. The castle itself looks straight out of a fairy tale, with turrets, gardens and winding paths to explore. ℹ️Castle Tours £18.50 per person The Walled Garden and woodland walk is a garden adventure with colourful flowerbeds, water features and lovely tucked-away walkways. ℹ️Garden ticket £10 adults £5 children aged 4-17 The heritage centre is compact and easy to explore, perfect for adding a little learning into your family day out without it feeling too formal. It offers a glimpse into the history of the castle and the wider village of Glenarm. ℹ️ Part of the garden admission Wee ones can get behind the wheel of mini off-road Landrovers. Tackle the bumpy track right on the castle grounds. It’s a brilliant and unique hands-on activity ℹ️£10 for 30 minutes (2 per car aged 3-7) There’s a lovely wooden play area on site, with a climbing wall, bridge and slide It’s great for the wee ones to burn off energy. With some lovely shops to browse, from clothing, jewellery to antiques it’s always great to support local Food and drink The Potting Shed- With hot coffee, traybakes and toasties. This is great to get your hot drink and let the wee ones play. The Tea Room- From coffee and traybakes to proper lunch options, it’s a great refuel spot. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. Pizza Pavillon- A fabulous outdoor pizza place. Homemade, wood-fired, and crafted on traditional sourdough bases with lots of topping choices and even a gluten free option. Moran’s, Glenarm. @moransofglenarm #invite This incredible seafood restaurant is an absolute find for lovers of delicious fish dishes. Located in the picturesque coastal village of Glenarm, the interior of Moran’s is a cosy, candlelit haven, with indigo walls, aquatic themed wallpaper and artwork, and a striking central fireplace. The food is outstanding, with lunch and dinner menus, and an extensive specials board highlighting the local catches of the day. From the small plates selection we ordered a beautiful Prawn, Scallop, and Butternut Squash Risotto, cooked al dente, with flavours of pesto and Parmesan, topped with a citrus pangratatto for extra texture and zing. We also had a bowl of meaty Pil Pil King Prawns, swimming in a chilli and garlic oil, with flatbread to soak up the juices. We then had two wonderful seafood specials; moist Roast Monkfish Steak in a spicy green curry sauce with prawns, crunchy vegetables, and fragrant jasmine rice, and a stunning Whole Local Lobster with dressed green salad and crispy fries. What a luxurious treat! There are also options for those who prefer meat-based dishes such as Glenarm Shorthorn Beef, or Red Wine Braised Venison, and with gluten-free, veggie and vegan choices, Moran’s caters for all dietary preferences. And do leave room for desserts; the Rich Chocolate Tart with sticky black cherry sauce, topped with a raspberry sorbet was a decadent delight, and the incredibly generous Irish Cheeseboard, which was more than enough for two (or more) to share, included five contrasting cheeses, all superb, but the organic Dillisk Seaweed cheese was particularly good. The restaurant is also BYOB, so you can choose a favourite wine to accompany your meal. Moran’s is the perfect culinary stop off when exploring the Causeway Coastal Route, visiting Glenarm Castle, or enjoying a walk in Glenarm Forest. Did you know that Valais Blacknose Sheep originate from the Alps in Switzerland? 🏔️ They are a protected breed and are often called the ‘world’s cutest sheep’. And with their quiet nature, they are simply irresistible! 😍 These fluffy celebrities are sheared twice a year because their fleece grows like crazy - after just 6 months, their curls can reach over 10cm long! Talk about a woolly wonder! 😳 The Valais Blacknose Sheep made their UK debut in 2014 and their numbers have been growing ever since. In fact, Northern Ireland even formed its own club in 2021 to support local breeders. Have you visited Lemon and Lime yet?🍋🐑
