At this point I was really flailing as a mama… My oldest had officially declared it the “WORST SUMMER EVER” after losing two grandparents in 2 weeks (😫💔) and canceling our summer trip to England. We were deep in grief and I didn’t know how to make it “better”. As a mama, you know there aren’t many worse feelings than helplessness when your kids are struggling, right? 😣 So, while we were at the dollar store, picking out a few small things for our last minute flights to Ontario, I said, “why don’t we do something silly and dress up on the plane!?” Well…$6 later, we ended up with these pretty stupid animal hats 😆😂…and let me tell you!! The side eyes and weird looks from strangers were totally worth it 😊 My girls had joy in their eyes again… I felt like myself for moments at a time… We made people laugh…not AT us, but WITH us :) - or maybe both 😅 This one little choice reminded me that even on the hardest days, we can CREATE joy…that our ability to be silly is a gift, not an embarrassment!! ✨We can laugh through swollen eyes ✨Tear stained cheeks don’t forget how to smile ✨Simple joy feels miraculous when your heart is aching I’m so grateful for the resiliency of the human spirit…and pretty stoked that I was willing to make a total ass of myself in order to bring a little light to an otherwise shitty situation 🙃 We’re flying home tomorrow!
