Hi I’m Helene and I’m walking 200 miles across England. This is my 3rd long distance hike and I was truthfully worried that nothing could match the first. Luckily I was wrong. Today was day 3, hiking from Rothswaite to Grasmere and one of the loveliest hikes I’ve ever done in my life! The Lake District is truly glorious! I recently teamed up with @blacks_online and @rose.marie.outdoors to practice map reading skills, discuss past adventures, talk about navigating motherhood and explore the beautiful area of Grasmere. I can’t guarantee these blue skies and dreamy views all year round, but I can guarantee Grasmere Gingerbread will be a HITTT 🤝 Finally got views a few months back on📍Silver How in the Lake District and what an absolute dream of a view for just 1.5 miles of hiking - I now get the hype! 🚗 Start and end in Grasmere (there’s a couple of car parks, get there early as this place is popular) 🥾 It’s a well pathed route but if you want the details, check out my Komoot (Hikewithkate) *Not always, we live in the UK you know! ☔️ p.s. Be a cracker for sunrise, this 👀

📍 Grasmere, Lake District, England Grasmere Gingerbread was created by Sarah Nelson in 1854, and the original secret recipe is still used today. But don’t expect normal gingerbread. It’s somewhere between a biscuit and a cake: chewy in the middle, crumbly on top and packed with ginger. And it’s still made in Grasmere. The shop itself makes the experience even better. It’s tucked into a tiny building that was once the village school, right next to St. Oswald’s Church. You’ll find it in the center of Grasmere, which is easy to reach by bus from Ambleside or Keswick—so you definitely don’t need a car to try it. And yes, we think you should try it at least once. 😋 👉Send this to the person you try all the food with.
