Have you ever read the label on your kitchen cleaner? I did, years ago, and I didn’t want that stuff sprayed on the counters where we make our food. So I started making my own. Distilled water, a little white vinegar, a spoonful of On Guard cleaner concentrate, and a few drops of lemon and tea tree in a glass bottle. That’s it. It cuts grease, it smells like lemon instead of chemicals, and one bottle of concentrate lasts me months. It’s not too hard, it’s not too expensive, and it works. I’ve been following Nancy Birtwhistle awhile now on Instagram. I love her content. It’s all about going green. Green cleaning in the house. So last week I saw a post she made about these little cotton knit cloths. And the idea of being to get rid of microfibre cloths which leak micro plastics into the environment. She recommended you could buy these balls of cotton wall that you need into the small cotton washcloths. They’re much more environmentally friendly and do a much better job than the microfibre cloths. I was about to buy myself a ball of the wall when I remembered this cotton blanket. I bought it in Avoca about 15 years ago. It’s got a hole in it from the Dog. But I still used it to cover the hole in the chair. The hole in the chair is there because of age. Anyway, I ripped the cotton blanket back to past the hole. Harvested all that beautiful wool. And knit up these cotton wash cloths. They’re environmentally friendly. They wash beautifully. They leave no streaks. in the spray bottle there’s a mix of vinegar, surgical spirits and water. I buy the vinegar in 2 L bottles from Woodies and I bought the surgical spirit in a 1 L bottle from a salon supply store.
