HE-MAN E OS MESTRES DO UNIVERSO 1987: O LIVE ACTION DE UMA GERAÇÃO He-Man e os Mestres do Universo era uma linha de brinquedos da Mattel que, mais tarde, virou desenho animado. O sucesso foi tão grande que dois anos após o seu encerramento, em 1987, as aventuras de He-Man se tornaram num longa-metragem live action, com Dolph Lundgren como o Príncipe Adam e Frank Langella no papel do Esqueleto. O filme inicia com Esqueleto dominando o Castelo de Greyskull, no reino de Etérnia. Esqueleto usou a “chave cósmica”, um aparelho que permite viajar pelas dimensões, criado pelo inventor conhecido como Gwildor para entrar no Castelo. A Feiticeira, guardiã do Castelo, é feita prisioneira. As forças de resistência são eliminadas. He-man e os poucos remanescentes terminam tendo de fugir através de um portal que acidentalmente os lança no planeta Terra. A única maneira de retornar é através da chave que abre o portal e que também é lançada à Terra. He-Man e os mestres do universo precisam encontrar a chave, mas terão de enfrentar o exército de Esqueleto com a ajuda dedois adolescentes. “Mestres do Universo” tem uma história bem diferente das contadas no desenho. A maior parte da trama se passa na Terra, um recurso utilizado para poupar gastos com cenários. Além disto, os personagens também são diferentes. Não há um Príncipe Adam, alter-ego do He-Man, nem Gato Guerreiro, nem qualquer menção aos seus pais. O herói lembra mais um “Conan do espaço”, com uma espada e uma arma de laser, e capa. Mesmo assim, devido ao físico do ator, a caracterização de He-Man por Dolph Lundgren é excelente, na aparência na voz e retratavam bem o herói. Frank Langella faz um Esqueleto, mais ameaçador como um feiticeiro aterrador, de cara branca que lembra um pouco uma caveira. O surpreendente é que “Mestres do Universo”, foi um fracasso comercial nas bilheterias apesar da popularidade dos brinquedos e desenhos. O filme estreou nos Estados Unidos em 7 de agosto de 1987, arrecadando US$ 17 milhões em todo o mundo contra um orçamento de US $ 22 milhões, mas agora é considerado um filme cult.Na cena de pós-créditos,
