We'll start: One of the biggest shifts for a lot of people is surprisingly simple - shopping your pantry first before you ever make a list. Just doing a honest five-minute inventory before heading to the store can cut impulse buying and food waste dramatically. Turns out most of us already have dinner in the house. If you dream of a simplified grocery list, streamlined meals, less food expenses, and just less chaos then you're going to love the Capsule Pantry strategy! It's only 3 steps:🤯 1. List all of your family favorite recipes. Every single meal your family likes to eat. 2. Identify overlapping ingredients (diced tomato, tuna , cheddar cheese, etc.) . Make a list of those item. They are what you want to keep on hand all the time. 3. When you grocery shop, use that list and see what needs to be restocked. Use that as the base of your list and add special ingredients for the week as needed. Now you have a whole list of dinner ideas, AND you have most of the ingredients to make them! 🔥BONUS: buy extra items when they're on sale to use later and save money in the long-run. 💯Want to see how this works in real life? This is how you can easily save money on your grocery shop each week 😍 It’s what we have been doing for years and it works It’s not just checking the pantry, fridge & freezer for what you already so you don’t re-buy it Its actually checking to see if you have anything you can use for the week ahead The easiest way to think of it is if you are looking at a recipe that has 10 ingredients and you have to buy them all that recipe is going to cost more to make Where as if you only need 5 ingredients for that recipe that makes it cheaper 🙌 So we want to do the same with planning what we are eating for the week ahead even if your not doing a full menu plan If we can have even 3 meals that use ingredients sitting in our pantry, fridge or freezer already it makes our grocery bill less And lets be honest most of us probably have things we can use in the pantry and freezer Those meal base you bought and haven’t used, the meat that was on special and is sitting in the freezer Plus it saves that stuff ending up in the bin Look at what you already have before you plan your menu or write a grocery list Check back next Tuesday for the next reel in this series from @reneegallichio #ashleysplace #groceryshopping #menuplanning #groceries #simplemeals

Habits that help us keep our average grocery bill to $580/month (this isn't the full picture, see my other posts to find out why). I don't just buy the cheapest option, but the cheapest acceptable option. I try to balance price with quality, avoiding additives and buying original brands over home brands for certain things. Our style of shopping is to wing it, find quick sales and buy as we need but this adds to the amount of daily decisions we have to make. I'm curious to try out the everyday extras subscription + discounted gift cards but I need to be much more strategic to maximise the benefits. #groceries #budgeting #frugalliving #personalfinance #familylife
Grocery prices feel like they’re climbing every week lately, so learning a few simple grocery shopping tricks can make a big difference to your weekly budget. After years of cooking for my family of 4, these are some of the grocery shopping habits that helped keep our food bill under control. 🛒 1. Start with a quick meal plan Knowing what you’re cooking for the week stops those random “what should we eat tonight?” supermarket trips. 🛒 2. Shop your pantry first Check your fridge, freezer and pantry before you shop. You’ll often find ingredients that can turn into a meal. 🛒 3. Write a proper shopping list A list keeps you focused and helps avoid impulse buys. An organised list makes shopping faster. 🛒 4. Check the unit price The bigger pack isn’t always cheaper. Looking at the price per 100g is the easiest way to spot the best value. 🛒 5. Keep a few easy backup dinners Pasta, frozen veggies, wraps or mince can save you from ordering takeaway when the week gets busy. ✨ Simple habits like these can make grocery shopping cheaper, faster and a lot less stressful. 💬 What’s your best grocery shopping tip? I’d love to hear it! #groceriesshopping #grocerytips #budgetshopping #familymeals #costofliving
